What do you do with empty totes once they’ve been used? 🤔

Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs), or “totes,” are too large to simply throw away and because they previously contained chemicals, they must be handled properly to meet environmental regulations.

The good news? Recycling programs like those offered by SCHÜTZ make the process easier. But there’s one important detail — totes must be returned in acceptable condition, or additional costs may apply.

A few simple steps can help ensure your totes qualify for recycling:
✔ Completely empty and drain the tote
✔ Keep caps and valves secure
✔ Prevent contamination
✔ Store totes properly to avoid damage
✔ Follow recycler return guidelines
