In mid-2017, Brent received a call from his father-in-law, Terry, who lived about 30 minutes north of him in Minneapolis, Kansas.
Terry had been at the VFW, doing what veterans do there: drinking coffee and talking. During one of those conversations, a friend from Delphos, Kansas, another 20 minutes north, mentioned that he knew of an old car. It was believed to be a Model A-era car with doors that opened backwards.
That conversation eventually led to Brent being put in touch with the car, and the discussions began.
The history of the car was already a little mysterious. The storage fees apparently had not been paid for a couple of years. The gentleman who had owned the car for many years had passed away, and the chassis was rumored to have been left behind a house somewhere. Despite efforts to locate it, the chassis was never found. The rest of the car, however, had been put into storage at some point.
Months went by as the details and legalities were worked out. Eventually, everything was settled and Brent purchased the car.
The car still wore a 1955 tag, and the decals on the body offered some clues to its earlier life. They appeared to point west, possibly to California, although much of the car’s early history remains unknown.
Once the car was acquired, the long process of bringing it back to life began.
The chassis was completed by Rex Rogers at The Forge in mid-2019. Around the same time, Brent was also working on another ’30 Ford Coupe for his brother, a project that would take him from 2019 into the middle of 2021. During those years, he also had several other Model A projects as well as a chopped ’34 Tudor competing for his attention.
The ’32 Three-Window would have to wait.
Finally, in approximately March of 2025, after several other projects were sold, the ’32 was moved to the top of the priority list. After nearly eight years of waiting and working its way through Brent’s collection of projects, the Three-Window finally made its way to The Preserve.
And that’s where the next chapter of its story begins.
