It matters...

Not sure I like this renaming term myself. My contributions were made for over 40 years on every salary I received. May not have been the work I wanted to be doing at the time BUT I always had a job.

The Social Security check is now (or soon will be) referred to as a "Federal Benefit Payment?" I'll be part of the one percent to forward this. I am forwarding it because it touches a nerve in me, and I hope it will in you. Please keep passing it on until everyone in our country has read it.

The government is now referring to our Social Security checks as a "Federal Benefit Payment." This isn't a benefit. It is our money paid out of our earned income! Not only did we all contribute to Social Security but our employers did too. It totaled 15% of our income before taxes.

If you averaged $30K per year over your working life, that's close to $180,000 invested in Social Security.

If you calculate the future value of your monthly investment in social security ($375/month, including both you and your employers contributions) at a meager 1% interest rate compounded monthly, after 40 years of working you'd have more than $1.3+ million dollars saved!

This is your personal investment. Upon retirement, if you took out only 3% per year, you'd receive $39,318 per year, or $3,277 per month.

That's almost three times more than today's average Social Security benefit of $1,230 per month, according to the Social Security Administration. (Google it – it’s a fact).

And your retirement fund would last more than 33 years (until you're 98 if you retire at age 65)! I can only imagine how much better most average-income people could live in retirement if our government had just invested our money in low-risk interest-earning accounts.

Instead, the folks in Washington pulled off a bigger "Ponzi scheme" than Bernie Madoff ever did. They took our money and used it elsewhere. They forgot (oh yes, they knew) that it was OUR money they were taking. They didn't have a referendum to ask us if we wanted to lend the money to them. And they didn't pay interest on the debt they assumed. And recently they've told us that the money won't support us for very much longer.

But is it our fault they misused our investments? And now, to add insult to injury, they're calling it a "benefit", as if we never worked to earn every penny of it.

Just because they borrowed the money doesn't mean that our investments were a charity!

Let's take a stand. We have earned our right to Social Security and Medicare. Demand that our legislators bring some sense into our government.

Find a way to keep Social Security and Medicare going for the sake of that 92% of our population who need it.

Then call it what it is: Our Earned Retirement Income. 99% of people won't Cut and Paste this to their timelines. Will you?

Please, for the sake of our country, Copy & Paste. It's important.

One of the main things I wanted to get done this trip is to install outside Bose speakers facing our dock which will require wiring from both speakers to the indoor receiver and to do this means I will have to go under the trailer "nasty". Over the years people have blow up rafts, left old school set of ski's and so on. Then we have all of the extra materials from repairs over the years, 1 baroque, 1 smoker, 3 or 4 propane tanks, 2 lawnmowers, 2 huge blocks of styrofoam for old school floating docks, 4 boogie boards.
I'm not to happy about all this s**t and it's in the way of running the wires

I'm pretty sure summer is here at least in Parker AZ with the temperature at 100 in the shade and 106 down on the dock and the weather report keeps changing its high for the day but right now they say 116, this is to hot, it's dangerous. Tomorrow is will not be any better, forecast 121. Grandpa Bruce left yesterday around noon so I had the place to my self finally until a couple of buddies come up tonight and one of them has never been to the river. Of course they want to do some Pew Pew but I don't know if that will be a good idea in that heat especially in the desert.
Anyways I'm really enjoying this retired time at the river just wish it would be like old times with momma and the kids, but the kids are much older and have there own schedules in life.

Pulled the Prerunner out of storage today to get some photos of it and I didn't expect it to have so much surface rust but that will come of with Scotch Brite, hopefully I can get Cameron and his friend's to do it. I'm never gonna finish building this machine and the storage rent is up to over $600 a month and mama doesn't like that and neither do I. Time to sell after a good clean up

It's that time again, on the way to the river with Bruce Mc Diarmid. This trip is a working trip and last trip was too but at least my daughter Madeline and her boyfriend Renaldo came and stayed for a couple of days before they made their way to HB for a couple of days.
Grandpa Bruce Mc Diarmid plans on going home on Wednesday but I might stay if my buddy Abe Salah decides to come up Friday after work. Then we'll have a few day's of pew pew time. I'll then ride home Sunday with him.

Well this weekend was a little bit of a bust. Went to the river to winterize the boat and do some pew pew target practice. Well pew pew time was awesome but the boat was a different story. I knew before going their I was going to be replacing the prop on the boat again for probably the 10 time or more and usually it's the wife to blame and I thought it was this time also but I found out it was actually my daughter. I didn't even know she had had or has been driving the boat with just her and the boyfriend. I invited Maddy and her boyfriend Renaldo to come out to the river for the weekend or a day if possible since the they now leave in Arizona and it's only a 1.5 drive for them to the river. They came Saturday afternoon around 2pm and Abe took them out to go pew pew shooting right away. I stayed behind to change the prop on the boat to find out Grandpa Bruce didn't get the correct prop so next on the list is yard work and that sucks especially doing it by yourself into the night and not finishing all of it when I had enough around 1am. So at least I got to see my Maddy and Renaldo, haven't seen them since they moved. Natalie, her mom and Bruce went 2 weeks ago and helped them settle in to their brand new house. It's a rental but brand new construction home and housing track
