🎯New E-Bike Rule Effective September 8th after Labor Day.
⚠️Attention Parents: Humble ISD is allowing Pedal Assisted E bikes ( up to 28 mph) on Campus with an Humble ISD Issued Permit. You may obtain a Permit by completing the following:
1.Visit www.humbleisd.net/ridesmart to review expectations, view the safety presentation, complete, sign and electronically submit the parent Authorization form.
2. After receiving the signed Parent Authorization form, School will pull the student to watch the safety presentation, sign student safety and Authorization Form. Humble ISD will issue to student the E-Bike permit 🧐
3.Additional Details: Students must follow safety guidelines and traffic laws where applicable. Students should wear protective gear such as helmets. E-Bikes must have bell or horn. Some models require front and rear lights. After market modifications not allowed unless cosmetic only.📝
4. Parents are responsible for ensuring that any electric vehicle used for transportation to and from school complies with Texas Laws.
✅️Elite Driving School side note: Parents should double check insurance requirements for E-Bikes and E-Scooters. Pay close attention to waivers and responsibility.
😇Humble ISD Rationale: E-Bikes and E-Scooters have become increasingly popular with children and teenagers. To help keep everyone safe, Humble ISD is implementing the following procedures for the 2026-2027 school year.
🫡Goal: These steps are designed to ensure that students understand safe riding practices and that campuses can easily identify students who have completed the required safety training.
Unauthorized E-Bike or E-Scooter Usage:
🚳 No Humble E-Bike Permit ... E-Bike not allowed on Humble Campuses for any event after September 8th.
⛔️E- Motorcycles require a Texas Drivers License 💫 & School Registration. Unregistered electric motorcycles may not be operated or parked on Humble ISD property. Families are reminded that some vehicles—including pocket bikes/mini motor bikes or electric dirt bikes—may not be legal for operation on streets, roads, or sidewalks, and/or may be classified as motorcycles or mopeds under Texas law rather than as E-Bikes.
❎️BEWARE: Motorcycles and mopeds are powered by a throttle controlled with a handlebar twist grip or button rather than by human-powered pedals assisted by an electric motor. Families should also be aware that some electric motorcycles marketed as E-Bikes include decorative or "fake" pedals that do not qualify the vehicle as an electric bicycle.
⭐️Under Texas law, operating a motorcycle or moped requires a valid driver's license💫, registration, and insurance. Students may not park these vehicles on district property unless they meet the same legal requirements as other student drivers and obtain an Humble ISD parking permit.
