Victoria Carl was the only woman in every one of her diesel classes. She finished the two-year program in about 18 months, then went to work for a company that had never hired a woman technician before.

Years passed before she worked alongside another woman in this industry, and today, five of the nine people in her shop are women.

She's proud to be a woman mechanic, but the thing she's proudest of is the Carl name on the building.

The previous owner of Victoria Carl's shop used to joke that she'd run the place someday, and nobody took it seriously, including her. She took over in April 2020 and put her name on the building.
