The best boards are the ones that make it to you. There's a reason for that.

Every kit comes across one bench before it goes anywhere. Cut checked against the template. Finish checked under direct light, which shows you everything a shop light hides. Bolt holes checked against the jig.

Off by a hair and it goes back. One speck in the finish and it goes back. Most boards clear it. Some do not, and those never see a shipping label, which is exactly why you have never heard about them.

That is the whole policy. It passes the bench or it does not leave the building.

That smile says it all. One happy customer and a People's Choice Award to show for it.

Todds Odd Rodds & Home Built Hot Rods modified one of our BedWood kits into a hinged bed door, running our stainless no-show bolt strips so nothing gives away the seam. Closed, it reads as a clean wood floor. Open, there is a whole compartment under it. This is a build that makes people stand there a second longer trying to work out what they are looking at.

His words on it: BedWood made it easy this go around with the kit.

Then it went to C/10s Under the Lights and took People's Choice. Not a judged class. The people walking the field picked it.

Proud to have our boards in a build this sharp.

Four people put their eyes and hands on your kit before it sees a shipping label.
Somebody picks the boards. Somebody runs the cuts. Somebody applies the finish. Somebody has to polish the hardware and bed strips, and any one of them can stop the process if something doesn't look right.
You will never meet them, but their work will be in your truck for the next thirty years.

Half the people who see Sapele call it mahogany. It's harder than mahogany.

The grain in a Sapele log grows in alternating directions, so light catches one band and skips the next depending on where you are standing. Step to the side and the pattern flips. Nothing on the surface is doing that, it is the wood itself.

It comes out of West Africa and gets called African mahogany often enough that people expect something softer than it is. It is harder than genuine mahogany and it holds a finish beautifully, which is why it turns up in guitars and boat interiors as much as it does in truck beds.

Deep reddish brown, tight and even, and it does not look like anything else at a show.

Bed Wood and Parts is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented individual to join our production team as a Finish Spray Technician.

This position will be responsible for professionally applying finish to our custom wood truck bed kits, so attention to detail and pride in your work are a must.

We offer a 4-day work week, with pay based on demonstrated experience. Previous experience with spray finishing, automotive paint, woodworking finishes, cabinetry, or a similar field is preferred.

Right now it is a rough plank. Next week it is in somebody's truck.

Six stations between here and there, same order every time. Mill, CNC, sand, finish, inspect, pack. Nobody skips one because it is Friday.

You see the last step. The other five are why it still looks right in a few years.

The factory picked oak because it was cheap and available, sealed it with whatever was running that week, and bolted it with hardware that had no give.

Twenty years was about the ceiling.

We use the same woods those trucks were born with. Oak, ash, walnut, hickory, but an improved finish, better hardware, and fitment cut to your exact truck.

Same era, better build.

Half the people who see a Zebrawood bed think the stripes are painted on.

They grow that way. West African hardwood, dark and light bands laid down by the tree, no stain and no laminate. You do not get to pick the pattern. You take what the tree gave you.

Run this in a bed and somebody at every show is walking over to ask what it is.

A hardware store clear coat does one job. Ours does four.

UV blockers against sun bleaching. Mold and fungi inhibitors for humid climates. A moisture barrier so water sits on top instead of soaking in. And a cure that shrugs off scratches a shelf product would show.

The wood gets the compliments. The finish is why it still earns them in five years.
