Margaret A. Wilcox, born in Chicago in 1838, is credited with inventing an in-car heating system—patenting it on Nov 28, 1893. Then in 1929, the first heater was introduced: Ford built a hot-air heater for the Model A using engine manifold heat to warm the cabin. In the U.S., heaters became popular extra-cost options, and by 1929 the Model A offered one from the manufacturer—later refined again by 1933. 🛠️🛻

It’s Car Fun Fact Friday: How much does it cost to start my car edition! 🚗💡

Older cars (carburetors pre 1980’s) often started “rich,” meaning they needed extra fuel right away to get going. ⚙️⛽️ They mixed fuel and air mechanically and used extra startup shots.

Modern cars use computer-controlled fuel injection—delivering fuel only when needed for better efficiency. 🖥️✅
In fact, starting can use about 1/2 teaspoon of gas! 🥄 🔧✨
