Local PD can't escape the low tire lights caused by the cooler weather either. Don’t worry, we got him right back out there on the road ASAP. As well as the 2 dozen others who came in today.

Some people spend their days making a difference—and then spend their evenings doing it all over again. Stacie Newell is one of those people.

During the school day, Stacie serves as a Title 1 Reading teacher at Hiawatha Public Schools-USD 415 Elementary School, dedicating her time to helping local children build confidence, strengthen their reading skills and reach their potential. Her commitment to children continues long after the school bell rings.

In the evenings, Stacie can be found at Stacie’s Dance Academy - Public, where she shares her love of dance with her students and provides them with a place to express themselves, develop self-assurance, and celebrate their accomplishments. Each year, her dancers take the stage for a special Christmas performance, showcasing the dedication and countless hours of practice that go into each routine.

This year’s Christmas Dance Recital will be held Sunday, December 6, giving Stacie’s students another opportunity to perform for family, friends and the community.

But the performance is about much more than dance. Stacie’s Dance Academy is a proud supporter of the Brown County Jingle Bell Ride and Christmas Store.

Admission to the Christmas performance is a toy or other item that is donated to the Jingle Bell Ride, helping stock up the Christmas Store and bring holiday joy to local families.

Stacie’s dedication to children and her generosity toward her community are evident in everything she does. Whether she’s helping a student find success in the classroom, encouraging a dancer on the stage or giving back during the holiday season, she is always finding ways to make a difference.

For the encouragement she provides, the opportunities she creates and the kindness she gives so freely, Stacie Newell is truly a Hometown Hero.

Congratulations Ryan!

When it comes to giving back, Ryan Meininger is someone who continually finds ways to serve his community. His dedication, generosity, and willingness to lend a hand have made a lasting impact on .

As President of the Hiawatha Baseball and Softball Club Board, Ryan works behind the scenes to help keep the complex running smoothly and successful for local athletes and families. He has also supported Hiawatha American Legion Baseball Post 66, helping wherever he is needed—from field maintenance and concessions to practices.

Ryan has a heart for youth sports, coaching local teams and helping create opportunities for kids to stay active and involved. He also played a key role in the addition of the new softball field at the Robinson Center.

His service extends into his faith community as well. As a member of First Baptist Church of Hiawatha, Ryan has volunteered for many years with the Community Thanksgiving Dinner, helping provide a meal and a place of fellowship for those who may otherwise go without. He also helped lead the church’s recent Water Day, bringing families together for a day of fun and activities.

Through State Farm, Ryan regularly supports community events and organizations and remains an active member of the Hiawatha Chamber and Visitors Bureau. About a decade ago, he was part of the effort to get the Hiawatha Maple Leaf Festival up and running, helping establish an event that continues to bring people together.

Ryan also owns the The Hiawatha Creamery, where his commitment to the community continues. Profits are reinvested into the business or returned to the community through sponsorships and donations.

Ryan doesn’t look for recognition. He simply sees where help is needed and steps up.

Thank you, Ryan, for everything you do for Hiawatha and for being a true !
