Testing is crucial. Understanding the system is crucial. Elsewhere: 2 starters, 1 ignition switch, 1 ignition cylinder replaced.

Reading codes and buying parts would have someone thinking they need to replace the $550 evap canister for this code. They would then go to do the replacement and find this damaged wiring. Codes are not part numbers. This is what we do during the testing phase of your vehicle's visit

No cute, funny videos here. I love fixing problems for our clients.

I will literally crawl around on the ground to prove out a failure. Here is a pretty cool one. A RAM truck with a few codes. Two of them were related and the components relating to the codes shared a LIN network. One module failed, causing the other module to be unresponsive. This is what you pay for when we are doing testing on your vehicle. This is real diagnostics. The code scan from the parts store does not tell you this.

I buy as many unusual diagnostic tools that I can get my hands on. In this one, I use two things I don't see many techs using. An independent wideband air/fuel meter, and a gas analyzer. These types of tools, a scan tool, and system knowledge are critical in collecting data to make a call on what has failed on a vehicle.
