“Riding Lightning is like flying…”
— A Lightning Strike owner with more than six years of ownership.

The quiet. The effortless rush of electric power. The feeling that makes you take the long way home.

After years of riding, this owner still describes the experience with a sense of wonder. That means a lot to our team.

Two wheels on the asphalt. Pure flight in the experience.

And flying with Lightning does not require compressed-air thrusters. ⚡

BEYOND THE HARDWARE CEILING ⚡
Software intelligence. Performance you can feel.

You see the motorcycle. You feel the acceleration.
Behind that experience is software working to bring the battery, motor, and power electronics together—every time you roll on the throttle.

At Lightning, we develop our own vehicle control and battery management software because how a motorcycle delivers its performance matters as much as the hardware inside it.
From managing energy and temperature to refining power delivery, that intelligence helps shape the ride.

The Lightning EDGE Platform brings it all together—with the rider at the center of the experience.

Metal. Silicon. Copper. Code.
And you at the controls.

ON LIGHTNING’S EDGE — EPISODE 9
PERFORMANCE LOVES COOL HEADS ⚡

The first twist of the throttle gets your attention. What happens as the ride continues matters just as much.

Heat builds as a battery and motor deliver power. As temperatures climb, the powertrain may need to reduce output to protect its components.

That’s where Lightning’s Thermal Intelligence comes in.
The Lightning EDGE Platform combines real-time monitoring with air, liquid, and oil cooling strategies tailored to different parts of the powertrain. Our software coordinates power delivery and cooling to help manage heat before critical limits are reached.

What does that mean for your ride?
⚡ More usable performance as demands increase.
🌡️ Coordinated thermal management throughout the ride.
🔋 Temperature control that supports battery health and component life.

The dashboard shown here gives you a window into that system, with temperature readings for the battery, motor, controller, and cooling fluids.

Peak power is only the beginning. Keeping performance available is the engineering behind the ride.
Where would you put Lightning to the test—a winding mountain road, your daily commute, or a track day? 🏍️

⚡ ON LIGHTNING’S EDGE

If you’ve never faced the edge, you haven’t pushed innovation far enough.

The edge is where the easy answers run out—where the engineering gets harder, the outcome becomes less certain, and many turn back.

Lightning hasn’t.

For more than 15 years, we have continued pushing: becoming the first electric motorcycle manufacturer to break 200 mph, developing traction control that checks for wheelspin every 40 milliseconds—25 times per second—and pursuing the next 250+ mph milestone with Tachyon Nb.

That work creates two distinct advantages:

THE RIDER’S EDGE
A motorcycle that remains powerful, responsive, and predictable—so the rider stays connected and in control, right up to the edge.

THE OEM’S EDGE
An integrated E-Platform connecting the building blocks common to electric vehicles: battery systems, power electronics, electric drive, vehicle control, and thermal management.

The motorcycle is the proof—not the limitation. The engineering developed and validated under extreme performance demands becomes a modular foundation designed to support new EV applications.

Our mission is not simply to reach the edge.
It is to MOVE IT.

POWER UNDER CONTROL ⚡

Electric motors can produce enormous torque instantly. But creating power is only half the challenge.

The harder part is delivering that power to the road—precisely, predictably, and under control.

That’s why Lightning developed its traction-control system in-house. Integrated directly into our vehicle-control architecture, it allows our engineers to manage how much torque reaches the rear wheel and how quickly it is delivered as traction conditions change.
The result: smoother, stronger, and more predictable acceleration.
Traction control isn’t simply a feature. It’s the intelligence that transforms electric power into real-world performance.

Power creates potential. Control turns it into performance. ⚡

Why Lightning Is Different? Ep 6: Beyond Brembo ⚡️🏍️
High-end hardware is only half the equation. True control happens in the code.

Most ABS setups are isolated, off-the-shelf systems bolted on as an afterthought. At Lightning, we designed our own ABS architecture to talk directly with our electric powertrain.

By linking wheel speed, motor torque, regen, and hydraulics into a single loop, this gives us the ability to:
✅ Seamlessly blend regen and friction braking.
✅ Customize ABS behavior rapidly for different riding needs.
✅ Ensure maximum rider confidence through predictive response.

When the code and the hardware speak the same language, control becomes intuitive.

🛠️ Validation testing is underway. Stay tuned!

⚡ Bonneville: The Work Continues

We have just completed our latest land-speed attempt at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

First and foremost, our deepest thanks go to our rider, Rennie Scaysbrook. His professionalism, extraordinary skill, and commitment were invaluable.

Our sincere thanks also go to CBMM Their support helped Lightning develop the engineering behind our current generation of land-speed motorcycles. We also extend our appreciation to our other partners—Corbin, Hayes, Omni, and Revchem. None of this would be possible without their support.

A very special thank-you goes to Alan Smith and Dustin at DelasFab for their extraordinary contributions to building and preparing our race bike.

We also want to thank all the amazing Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials volunteers and organizers. Their dedication, experience, and hard work made this event possible for every team and rider on the salt.

We are deeply grateful to the entire Lightning team for their tireless effort, long hours, and determination throughout this program.

Although we did not achieve our target speed on this attempt, the week provided valuable data demonstrating that this motorcycle has the capability to exceed 250 mph.

At Bonneville, you are not simply competing against the other riders there that day. You are competing against the fastest rider in the history of your class. Every run is a learning opportunity, moving us one step closer to doing what has never been done before.

The Lightning team is already gearing up to refine the engineering and prepare for our return to the salt.

We will be back. ⚡

Is battery swapping the ultimate solution for every electric two-wheeler, or does it hit a physical limit? ⚡️🏍️

In a newly published feature for EVolution Auto India, Lightning Motors Corporation Founder & CEO Richard Hatfield dives into why the 150cc-equivalent boundary changes everything for electric motorcycles.

While 2–4 kWh delivery fleets thrive on swappable 10 kg battery packs, scaling up to 10–15 kWh performance platforms means handling 75+ kg battery weight, chassis rigidity needs, and extreme thermal management in peak climates.

The future isn't one-size-fits-all:
🛵 Urban Commuters (2–4 kWh): Hand-swappable networks stay king for last-mile fleets.
🏍️ Mid-Size & Performance (150cc+ Equivalent): High-voltage direct charging becomes the default for global scalability, structural integrity, and maximum power.
