Auction prices have been climbing pretty quickly, especially on clean SUV's and AWD vehicles. This usually happens around this time of year as tax refunds start hitting and more buyers enter the market.

When demand increases at the auctions, it means dealers are often paying more for the same vehicles than they were just a few weeks ago.
