Ever notice cars driving around with bubbling, peeling, or distorted tint on their back windows? 👀
There’s actually a lot more that goes into tinting a rear windshield than most people realize.
What you’re watching in this video is called heat shrinking, and it’s one of the more technically demanding skills to master in window tinting.
Here’s why it matters. 👇
Most rear windshields have a curved surface, but window film comes on a flat roll.
That means the film needs to be carefully shaped to match the curves of the glass before it can be properly installed.
Using controlled heat and the right technique, an experienced installer shrinks the film so it conforms to the window without unwanted fingers, creases, or distortion.
Sounds simple, right?
It’s not.
Too much heat can damage the film. Poor technique can create permanent creases or imperfections. And if the film isn’t properly shaped, getting a clean installation becomes much more difficult.
What looks like a quick, effortless process in this video takes real practice, patience, and experience to master.
Now, here’s something important to understand:
Not all bubbling tint is caused by bad installation.
Those large bubbles you see on older vehicles are often caused by adhesive failure as lower-quality film deteriorates over time.
That’s why BOTH the quality of the film and the skill of the installer matter.
You can invest in great film and still get a poor installation. And even a perfectly installed film can eventually fail if the material itself is low quality.
At Yonisa Tints, we focus on both.
Quality materials. Proper techniques. Experienced hands. And attention to the details most customers will never even see.
Because a good tint job isn’t just about how it looks when you leave the shop.
It’s about how it holds up long after.
