Don't know what retrofitting is? Retrofitting is the act of taking a true HID projector and installing it into your existing headlights. Unlike halogen reflectors or halogen projectors, HID projectors are designed for use with HID bulbs. This means that they take complete advantage of the thousands of lumens of light. Why should you do it? Unlike headlights designed for use with halogen bulbs, whe

n you put HIDs into your retrofitted projectors you will NOT blind other drivers on the road. You'll experience a much safer driving experience that is currently only afforded by luxury cars whose lights easily cost thousands of dollars. With a base level retrofit starting under $500, such a modification should be a no brainer. The monetary investment is minuscule when you consider the cost of an OEM setup, the added night time driving safety, and the avoidance of a potential disaster and a totaled car. I did a set of lights for Sean's Ralliart in the past, but the Evo is a new car for him and this was the setup he wanted.

-BlacknBlue paint
-Quad Blue Daytime/Passive demon eyes
-Quad Blue Powered Demon eyes
-Quad CCFLs
-FxR 3.0 3" retrofit with 6k HIDs
-Darkened turn signal
-Darkened sidemarker
-Pseudo inner projector w/ E46 ext. shrouds

Everything has been wired up to the headlights' main housing connector so there is no need for splicing of the OEM wires or running new wires to a switch inside the cabin, everything is controled by the cars existing wiring.

These housings presented enormous challenges but the end result should look amazing on the car.

Hello all! Just an update: I have not fallen off the face of the Earth. I am still doing work but have not advertised what I've been doing in a while. I recently graduated college and will be winding down operations here. Right now I have no intentions to stop any time soon. I just ask that you all bare with me as I'm trying to transfer into a career.

So again, I am still taking on new jobs and retrofits --however slowly-- so if I take a long time to reply to a retrofit inquiry please know that I am not simply ignoring you. Thank you everyone who has been and continues to be a part of all of this because without you guys I would never have turned out many of the awesome projects of the past.

Michael came to me needing me to do a new set of headlights. He had previously had someone else do a quad retrofit on OEM housings, but was not able to aim them correctly and wasn't thrilled with the lights outcome he received. So he contacted me to do a simple reliable retrofit. He sent me two sets of lights, the quads and a new OEM style pair. I gutted the used housings and reused a pair of the Mini H1 projectors and bulbs he originally had. He decided to order MC-R shrouds and wanted a halo mounted behind them. Lastly, the housings were painted in a nice satin black paint job and resealed.
Here's the final product.

Added were a set of purple halos to ring in the theme, but also added was a set of 4.3k HID bulbs. There are no drop-in bulbs available for the 03-05 Eclipse and while the OEM connectors are twist-in style they utilize an H1 halogen bulb (which is commonly clipped onto the reflector). What we did was match up the base of the twist in connector to that of a normal HID bulb, then had to trim parts of the base and add an O-ring to properly seat and seal the HID bulb onto these reflectors. WIthout doing this Chris would have to hack up the OEM plastic connector and try to make an H1 HID bulb fit, which would be quite the hassle.

When Daniel contacted me about getting headlight work done he also had the plan to do his tail lights. He wanted something that would tie together the front of the car with the back of the car and this was the idea he came up with. After purchasing all the parts and sending them to me the official plans were: Kalapana Black painted housings, LED brake chrome reflector was stripped to it's natural black state, Red/Amber switchback LED strips were installed, and a single red halo was installed on the reverse light reflector on each housing. The tails were damaged during shipping but I was able to repair the broken lens piece although the piece that broke off was no where to be found. After repairing and resealing the housings the outer edge of the lenses were painted kalapana black to clean up the edge and the entire lens was clear coated.

Daniel contacted me after attempting a retrofit on his OEM headlights. He had most of the parts already on hand and wanted me to install them, the FxR 3.0 3" lens preojectors, McR shrouds, switchback LED strips and LED halos. Daniel sent me a new set of OEM style gloss black housings to go under the knife. His setup includes 6k cool white HID bulbs, 35w ballasts, motocontrol harness, housing endcap, and D2S bulb adapters all from Iconic Designz.

We went with a pair of white LED halos behind the shrouds, tilted to resemble the "fang" appearance of the new Infiniti Q50 headlights. On the face of the shrouds is a pair of blue LED halos. The shrouds were painted a nice metallic blue to pop out of the housings. The turn signals were painted gloss black and switchback LED strips were mounted along the entire perimeter of the housings.

Chad contacted me looking for great output and a clean retrofit. Chad went with the Panamera V2/Apollo 3.0 shrouds. The shrouds were color matched to Chad's Liquid Silver paint (only on the 05 3rd gen. eclipse). He went with white daytime demon eyes, white powered demon eyes, as well as a pair of CCFL's mounted behind the shrouds. Further accentuating the "clean and classy" approach. The OEM reflectors were painted Satin black to match with the OEM black plastic housings.
As for performance Chad decided the FxR 3.0 projectors with a 2.5" lens which provides a better low beam than the 3" version. To really bring all the lumens to the road he went with OEM Phillips 85122+ HID bulbs, which produce roughly 3200 lumens each.

Gabe contacted me looking for a set of High and low beam HID depos. Originally he was aiming for a set with CCFL halos dropped in but after seeing how reasonable the pricing is he opted for the much brighter LED halos. These headlights are running 6k H7 high and low beam HID's and will have a custom harness and wiring setup to allow the HIDs to be as plug and play as reasonably possible without introducing unnecessary clutter to the engine bay.
