Extended warranties are one of those things you side-eye every month… right up until your RV decides it wants a major repair. 😂

Then suddenly that warranty payment doesn’t look so bad.

We’re actually big fans of extended warranties, and Good Sam and Route 66 are two of our favorites. We’ve seen them save customers some serious money when ACs, refrigerators, water heaters, slide components, and other expensive RV parts decide they’ve had enough.

Now, read your contract because every plan is different and not everything is covered. But if you ask us whether a GOOD extended warranty is worth the money? Absolutely.

Apparently one of the requirements for working at Moonlighting is being willing to crawl, fold, twist, and wedge yourself into spaces no grown adult was ever meant to fit in. 😂

We know how hard people work for their money, and we know when something goes wrong with your RV, it can be stressful enough without finding out the repair wasn’t done right.

This is why we always encourage people to really look into the companies or individuals they hire. In this case, caulk was put into the white holes, but that didn’t actually fix the leak. You can literally see the water still dripping out from another hole. The leak itself was never truly repaired.

Sometimes the cheaper option feels like the best option in the moment, and we understand that. But when a repair is done the wrong way, it usually ends up costing even more in the long run. Water can keep getting in, keep spreading, and turn a smaller issue into a much bigger and more expensive one.

We’re not saying this to judge anyone. We’re saying it because we hate seeing good people spend money on something that should have been handled correctly the first time.

If this happens to you, don’t worry. Moonlighting is always happy to help and we’ll do our best to get you taken care of the right way. We’ve got your back.

Friday Morning Tips From Behind the Scenes at Moonlighting 🚐❄️

One thing we see a LOT during the summer is dirty RV AC units.

It is easy to forget about cleaning them when they are still blowing cold, but your rooftop AC is collecting dust, pollen, leaves, bugs, and all kinds of junk while it runs.

That buildup can cause weaker airflow, freeze-ups, water dripping inside, and make your AC work harder than it needs to.

In this Texas heat, your AC is already working overtime. Keeping it clean is one of the simplest things you can do to help it keep up.

So here is your Friday morning reminder from behind the scenes at Moonlighting: if you cannot remember the last time your RV AC was cleaned, it is probably time to get that done.

Since it’s Thursday night, we wanted to share a little bit about how things work behind the scenes at Moonlighting.

We get asked pretty often if we offer free estimates, and we really do understand why people ask. We know what things cost right now, and we know how important it is to make every dollar count. We’re a small business, but we’re also a family, and we understand wanting to know what you’re spending your money on before you commit to a repair.

Because we’re a mobile, appointment-based RV repair company, when you book with us, that time is set aside specifically for you. Our technician is driving to your location, bringing the service vehicle, tools, equipment, and taking the time to properly diagnose what’s going on.

Our service call is $85, and we have a 1-hour labor minimum of $150, making the minimum visit $235 before parts.

That first hour is there so we can actually look at the problem, test things, troubleshoot it, and give you a real answer instead of guessing from a picture or a phone call. Sometimes the issue is simple. Sometimes it takes a little digging.

We’ll always give you as much information as we can before your appointment, and if there’s something we can answer over the phone, we’re happy to do that. We just don’t want to tell someone they need a certain repair, or quote something as definite, until we’ve actually seen the RV.

We know $235 is still $235. We don’t take that lightly, and we never want anyone to feel like we’re charging just to “come look at it.” You’re paying for dedicated appointment time, travel, diagnostics, experience, and a technician coming directly to you.

We truly appreciate everyone who chooses to spend their hard-earned money with our little business. We know you have choices, and we don’t take your trust for granted. 🌙🚐
