Look who came home to celebrate! 💙 Allison, Douglas, and Charles: three of owner Jim Forrester’s four kids, and great-grandchildren of our founder, Jim Douglas! (Big brother Jim was there too, he just dodged the camera for this one! 📸)

In 1926, Jim Douglas opened a small shop in High Springs. A century later, his great-grandkids are standing under the same roof, celebrating 100 years with the community that made it all possible.

That’s what a family business is all about: a legacy handed down from one generation to the next, and customers who’ve become family along the way. ❤️

📰 Flashback Friday: our 75th birthday made the front page! 📰

Take a look at the date on this one: September 27, 2001. Twenty-five years ago, The High Springs Herald covered our 75th anniversary celebration, when we were still Jim Douglas Chevrolet.

That party came just days after September 11th, at a time when our whole country was hurting. Even so, hundreds of you came out for an open house with barbecue, country music, and classic cars. Present and former employees gathered for the feast, and General Motors presented us with a plaque to mark the milestone. Guests got to see a 1928 Chevy flatbed sold by “Wynn-Douglas” Chevrolet, the company’s early name, and plenty of folks stood around dreaming about driving off in a 1941 Chevy pickup. 🚚

Twenty-five years later, we just celebrated our 100th, and once again you showed up for us. Same family, same town, same friends. Thank you for 100 years, High Springs. 💙

💙 Some faces are just family. 💙

It meant the world to us to see Imogene Alligood at our 100th Anniversary Celebration! For 31 years, Imogene ran the office, kept the books, and handled the finances at Jim Douglas, first for Baxter and then for Jim. Behind every great shop is someone keeping everything running smoothly, and for more than three decades of our history, that someone was Imogene. 🧾✨

A business doesn’t last 100 years on its own. It lasts because of people like Imogene, who showed up, worked hard, and cared about this place like it was their own. We’re so grateful for everything she gave to the Jim Douglas family over the years.

Imogene, thank you for being part of our story and for coming out to celebrate with us. It just wouldn’t have been the same without you! ❤️
