Did you know that while women make up about half of the total US population, they only make up about 12% of the law enforcement officers in the country? To recognize these fierce ladies, let’s celebrate National Police Woman day which is dedicated to the appreciation of contributions made by female law enforcement officers to the safety of our state and nation. Women in law enforcement all across the country have made significant contributions to the profession and continue to do so every day!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those lost in this unfathomable time in our state.
We also send our continued prayers for those affected as the rescues continue and cleanup, and restoration efforts begin.

The North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association has been notified of the tragic deaths of two deputies in Western North Carolina resulting from the significant flooding and hazardous conditions caused by Hurricane Helene. In the wake of this devastating storm, a deputy from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office and a deputy from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office were tragically killed in raging flood waters. We ask that you keep the families, friends, and colleagues of these deputies as well as the entirety of Western North Carolina in your thoughts and prayers during this unfathomable and difficult time.
