At Maverick's Collision, we believe every customer deserves honest information and the freedom to choose the repair facility THEY trust.

Under Texas law, insurance companies and adjusters CANNOT require you to use a specific body shop or collision repair facility for your repairs to be covered.

📖 Texas Insurance Code §1952.302 states that an insurer or adjuster may NOT:

✔️ “State or suggest, either orally or in writing,” that you MUST use a specific repair facility or preferred shop for repairs to be covered.

✔️ Restrict your right to choose your own repair facility.

✔️ Pressure you into traveling unreasonable distances for repairs.

You have the legal right to choose the collision repair facility that YOU trust with your vehicle, your safety, and your family.

Insurance companies may recommend shops within their DRP (Direct Repair Program) network, but they cannot legally force or pressure you into using one.

Consumers have the right to pick which repair facility they want; it is a choice, they will tell you differently.
Steering is illegal, most states have laws in place to prevent steering. That means even if they are pressuring you to take your vehicle to their "Preferred" shop, you don't have to comply. ​

"Their lives are changed forever and the money does not change that, but they are hoping that this verdict can save the lives of others that may be driving compromised vehicles right now and not even know it."

STEERING IS ILLEGAL
Steering is a deceptive concept of salesmanship, where someone is coerced, directed, pushed or driven to use a specific service provider because the recommender derives monetary consideration, kickbacks, special privilege, economic savings, etc., as a result of such activity. Consumers are often led into undesired purchases and making decisions for products and services they later regret because they were steered towards them by design. Don’t become a victim; make an informed, knowledgeable choice that is based on your sole decision after considering all your options.

If you are insured and file a claim, then your insurance policy may allow for the use of aftermarket and/or used parts; however, your policy should also state that they owe for a safe (Pre-loss) repair! STOP LOCAL STEERING
IT IS ILLEGAL.
State laws prohibit insurers from forcing customers to choose a particular shop and engaging in such conduct is called “Steering.” While insurers will say they don’t require vehicle owners to use a particular shop, they will most often strongly recommend the use of a facility in the program or use fear tactics to get their way! Most state laws say that an insurer “shall not recommend” another shop unless the vehicle owner ask for it!
