Has there been a resurgence in the super stock class? We’ve only attended 3 races this year, but all three times there were more super stocks than IMCA modifieds. My husband and I would love to this class prosper!

Here is your Montana Street Stock Power Rankings for 2024!

As the dust settles on the 2024 Street Stock Racing season in Montana, it's time to take a closer look at the power rankings of the top drivers who have battled it out on the track. With impressive performances and competitive racing, these drivers have shown us their skills, their determination, and what it takes to make our top 5 list.

Top Five Drivers

1. Robert Petroff

Wins: 17
State Points: 1st

Petroff dominated the season, clinching the top spot in state points and securing an impressive 17 wins. He also made a serious run at the National title. His consistency and speed have made him the standout driver in Montana in 2024. This solidifies his reputation as the driver to beat.

2. Dillon Hoppe

Wins: 4
State Points: 2nd

Hoppe finished the season strong, ranking second in state points, second on our list, and accumulated four wins. His competitive edge and ability to navigate through the field and come from the back in tough races keeps him in our top 5, and also kept him contention all season long.

3. Troy Cepak

Wins: 5
State Points: 12

With five wins to his name, Cepak showcased his talent on the track. His ability to capitalize on opportunities has earned him a spot among the most powerful drivers in Montana. His win total bested that of Hoppe, but his lack of traveling puts him 3rd on our list.

4. Luke Zampich

Wins: 2
State Points: 11

Zampich's strong finishes helped him secure a place in the top five. Though he only recorded two wins, his ability to master the car in only his 2nd season along with his racing resilience have made him a formidable competitor. His lack of consistency and a handful of DNF's holds him down in 4th on our list.

5. Caden Craver

Wins: 1
State Points: 3rd

Craver rounds out the top five with a solid showing in state points and a win this season. He also had a track championship in Great Falls. He has emerged as a powerful contender despite his lack of experience. His talent and potential are evident, and he has proven that he can compete at a high level. We look forward to watching Caden in seasons to come.

Honorable Mentions

Even with 2 victories, Marvin Gonzales narrowly missed the top five, largely due to a limited racing schedule. His potential for success remains high, and with more shows, he should easily break into the elite ranks.

Other drivers, including Cail Tinker, Joey Tinker, Brock Salsbury, Chris Galpin, Ron Weber, and Kyle Jarvey, also made notable contributions to the season, each adding wins to their season totals.

It should also be mentioned that Kayla Pelissier also cracked the top 5 in state points, finishing 4th.

The 2024 season has showcased the incredible talent and determination of Street Stock Racing drivers in Montana. As we look forward to the next season, all eyes will be on Robert Petroff as he attempts to defend his title, while challengers like Dillon Hoppe and Troy Cepak will be eager to close the gap and vie for supremacy. With such a competitive field, the future of Street Stock Racing in Montana looks exciting. We look forward to following this class closely in 2025.

We are currently working to determine the most powerful street stock drivers in Montana. We are looking through statistics on MyRacePass, looking at state points, and we are watching some videos along with getting driver input. We will have our report ready soon!

10/22/2024

When shaking out all the statistics and what we’ve seen at the track, making our top five most powerful Modified driver list isn’t easy. The easiest positions to define are third and fourth. We are putting Jordan Tocci solidly in third. Jordan was a threat all season and tied Jeremy Meirhofer for the most top fives in the state with 16. Cory Craver matched the 2C Car in wins, but lacked a little consistency and only had nine top fives. Craver is fourth.

By the numbers, it’s easy to put Jeremy Meirhofer in the fifth position. He had 16 top fives in Only 26 races. He also had three wins. His matchup status against Tocci and Craver is the only thing keeping him out of the top four. We were initially considering Devon Jadwin to find a spot in our top five as he showed a lot of speed when we were in attendance at Gallatin Speedway, but after looking over the numbers fifth has to go to the 32M.

For the top two spots, it’s the same boys as last year. This year, it was much harder for us to choose the winner as the statistics are much closer between the two. Clemens and Price both won at two of the three Montana tracks. In head to head matchups, They squared off 19 times between April 26 and September 7. Clemens barely edges price in this category finishing ahead of price 10 of the 19 times, and inversely, Price besting Clemens nine of the 19 times. Just like last year, Clemens has one more win, but his win percentage is slightly lower than that of Joey Price. Clemens had 18 top fives in 2024, when Price had 15.

We think the tiebreaker here is determined by some of the Crown jewel events in the state of Montana. Clemens’ win in Belgrade for $5000 followed by his $2100 win at Fastest in the Falls cannot be ignored. Clemens also bested Price at the big sky super nationals, but did fall short at the round up in Great Falls by one position.

It was a close one upfront but 2024 has to, again, go to Clemens.

1. Clemens
2. Price
3. Tocci
4. Craver
5. Meirhofer.

For this year‘s Montana dirt track, power rankings, we are going to start with the modified division. Year after year the modifieds seem to be the most competitive, and have proven to be our favorite to keep track of.

This year things were a little different in the fact that there were many more winners, and the available wins were much more evenly spread out throughout the competition. Clemens had the most wins in the state with 5. Joey Price was close behind with 4 in-state wins. Both of those numbers are down considerably considering they had eight and nine wins respectively last year. Jordan Tocci, Cory Craver and Jeremy Meirhofer all had three Montana wins. Unlike last year, not a single driver had a win at all three Montana tracks. As far as we can tell, Clemens, Price, Tocci, Craver, and Meirhofer were the only five drivers to attend all three tracks.

Two-race winners Include Devon Jadwin, Paul Leach, Maurice Myre, And Eric Mass.

The remaining single race winners in the state of Montana were Terrell Payne, Kinzer McCord, Burt Beach, Tyler Leach, Rex Feller, Taylor Johnson, Cody Blixt, Dale Neitzel, Rod, Lorenz, and Bart Taylor.

Stay tuned for our top five analysis later today.

We would like to keep this page going. However, each post takes many hours to do, and we can see through facebook's business page management that only 25-50 people are viewing the posts. So, we're going to take a break on this for a while. We might do more of a monthly thing rather than a weekly report. Thanks to those of you who found interest in this. Share the page, we'd be more motivated if it was a little more popular. Thanks again!

This past weekend all three Montana tracks had successful events. We were in Great Falls last weekend where the A-mods and the B-mods both put on INCREDIBLE shows for the fans.

Street Stocks:

Petroff had another strong weekend finishing 2nd in Belgrade and getting his 5th MT win of the season on Saturday in Billings. Castro ran 3rd on Friday and was absent all together on Saturday. Both Joey Tinker and Luke Zampich were nowhere to be seen this last weekend. Troy Cepak is making noise again and matched Petroff's weekend with 1st and 2nd place finishes. The 44 of Ryan Ghromley had another top 5 in Belgrade. This week's power rankings will shake up a little based on some absences.

Rankings:

1. Robert Petroff (most wins (5), Leads MT points)
2. Troy Cepak
3. Jeremy Castro
4. Luke Zampich
5. Joey Tinker

A-mods:

Great A-mod racing again this past weekend. Clemens ended up with a pair of 2nd place finishes while finishing behind two different Leach brothers. There was an amazing race to watch in Great Falls as Clemens hunted down a checked-out Tyler Leach and tried some cool moves to gain the lead, but couldn't get it done, making the 05 the winner. Tyler Leach has been inconsistent over the season so far, but is the only other driver outside of Clemens to have multiple in-state wins. His wins will find him a spot on our list. Michael Leach had a win in Belgrade on Friday and finished 3rd on Saturday. Last week's 2nd place position holder Taylor Johnson struggled in Belgrade finishing 11th, and did not race on Saturday. Johnson also sadly posted on Facebook that he is done for the season. This will affect Johnson's rankings. Jordan Tocci was consistent again and placed in the top-5 twice this past weekend. The 32m of Meirhofer finished 3rd in Belgrade, but wasn't as impressive in Great Falls. The 32m has been pretty quiet this season so far and will continue to sit just outside our top 5. Joey Price was not in attendance in Belgrade, and struggled in Great Falls. On Saturday, the 37's heat race was a little dismal and his feature provided a rare non top-5 finish in 8th. In Billings, Kenny Baumann was victorious over Jason George and Dale Neitzel. Baumann has only raced in Billings this season, but has finished in the top-5 in every outing. Cory Craver finished out of the top-5 both in Belgrade and in Billings.

Rankings:

1. Ty Clemens (most wins (3), Leads MT points)
2. Jordan Tocci
3. Michael Leach
4. Joey Price
5. Tyler Leach
