'69 Torino is back for a little test and tune after getting wrapped. The owner went with a green that was a nod to the original color. I'll probably do a larger post later with the before and after photos, and a bunch of progress pics as well. This one has come a long way.

I realized that I never posted anything about these fenders I stretched a little while back. You're looking at four Chevy pickup step side fenders made into two that are 2 inches wider than factory. The fenders themselves were pretty rough to start with, but it's what the customer had so that's what we used.

These little custom jobs are always fun to do.

Really late on the post, but big thanks to Slick's Paint Shop for turning around our Torino project so quickly. It looks great in primer, and it'll look better once it goes green.

Parts are coming in almost daily, so it'll be together in no time.

Big thanks to Brian Ownsbey for the help in the shop the last few weeks. From metal work to upholstery!

We just finished up the custom work on the front of the '69 Torino this week. The customer wanted to delete the trim on the hood and fenders, which is a pretty easy job on most cars. However, these Torinos had some very large trim that Ford used in place of finishing out the sheet metal.

What you're looking at is brand new custom 3d printed park light housings done by Robby Miller, smoothed front fenders that were custom made to fit the park lights, and a redesigned and fabricated hood that is now flush with the front of the fenders. We also converted the '69 grille to a '68, which accents the peaked hood far better. Unless you were a Torino aficionado you probably wouldn't ever know it wasn't designed this way.

Went in for a few hours this morning to get the quarters hung on the Torino. They still need work done to be right, but they aren't coming back off. Big thanks to Brent Vincent for coming out in the snow to help get it done.

513 Classics is going into its 9th year of operation soon. When I started the business I wasn't met with a lot of support, other than my amazing wife. Family and friends were quick to discouragement, but frankly I felt that God was sending me to do this. Things were hard at first, but the the provision was always there, even if it was literally the day of bills being due.

After almost two years of doing everything in my driveway I was offered a job at a shop, which I took to grow my skillset. Again, I was dealt more discouragement from the same people, but again I felt like God had opened a door for me. It was a terrible shop, and the quality that they wanted done was well below my standard. I fought them for a year and half and then was fired. But, I did gain experience.

So I was back in my driveway again, but the city was coming down hard on me. In April of 2019 they forced me into renting a shop. At the time I wasn't looking at it like a blessing or an opportunity, I was looking at it like a last ditch effort. I moved in with no customer work, and very little tools for running a real shop. Again, enough money came in to pay everything, and even grow the business some.

Then COVID hit, and basically everybody told me I was done. But, God opened door after door throughout the pandemic, and I made it through. Now the shop is expanded, I have more work then time, and while it's not flashy or glamorous, I have the tools to do a variety of jobs at a high level. And just the other day I was asked if I was worried about a shop that moved in next door to me. Not at all.

I never wanted to link faith and business publicly, mainly for fear of appearing like I was using it to grow my business, which I'm not. But I have to give the glory to where it belongs, because far too many scenarios took place that kept me in business that had nothing to do with hard work or perseverance. God has provided for me for almost 9 years with this business, and if it fails tomorrow He will open another door.

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. (2 Peter 3:18)

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Roger at Custom By Cox has been working with us a little at a time for over a year to complete the wood overhaul on this car, and as of Friday it's officially done! I can't stress enough that this project couldn't have been done without him.

It was a trying job, but we maintained a level of quality from start to finish, and delivered a nice product. A thank you also goes out to our customer for being as patient as possible throughout the process.

There's a little more work to be done to get it finished up, and I'll post again with more pictures then.

Late post, but Roger at Custom By Cox did a fantastic job on the custom front floor boards on the Model A. They're now designed where they can be easily removed for battery, brake, and transmission access.

I'll post again when they're painted and in for the last time.

Big progress on the Torino. We've replaced the kick panels, firewall, lower cowl, and rear floor braces. We also made all the provisions for our heater, throttle pedal, and wiring, while at the same time filling every unnecessary hole in the firewall.

Next is the upper cowl, and then on to the floor pan. So far the Auto Metal Direct parts have been fitting pretty nicely.
