‼️Remember to keep the damaged area dry & clean‼️

I want to make this post because this is becoming more and more of an issue:

Whenever you get a rock chip or crack, you should try to cover it with scotch tape IMMEDIATELY!
​Every single time the damaged area gets wet, you risk contamination getting inside.

Next time you're here, feel free to ask for one of our tape cards, these conveniently have two pieces of circular tape for you to peel, and apply on any chips to help you keep chips clean and dry! For running cracks, you can use a roll of scotch tape. Make sure when applying the tape, you lay it nice and flush with no crinkles on the edges, and that you do not overlap any of the tape! Make sure to use scotch tape, and NOT painters tape, or duct tape. Make sure your windshield has been dry for at least two hours before applying any tape!

​Not only are we unable to work on a windshield within two hours of it getting wet, but if dirt gets inside, it makes the repair much more noticeable once completed. Even worse, if you use Rain-X, car wax, or a ceramic coating, you risk those hydrophobic products getting INSIDE the damaged area.

​Windshields are laminated, meaning there is a plastic sandwiched between two pieces of glass, and that plastic can soak up these contaminations!

When that laminate soaks up those hydrophobic applications, it will literally repel our resin, preventing them from filling the damage properly. This will unfortunately leave shine left behind, and will make it where we are unable to put a warranty as the resin wont bond properly. It's important to cover the damaged areas immediately, because depending on the quality of the products, it can stay trapped in the damaged glass for months or even years!

Starting to rain! I'm currently on my lunch right now and it started to rain. With this said I think I'ma just "close" down, however if it dries up, or if you are currently in a dry area and covered up the damage with tape, just give me a call and I'll be able to meet you at my shop!
