Week 4 at MQMRA - Little Elko Speedway brought the first qualifying day of the year which also happened to be sponsored by our family at Eilen & Sons Trucking. We didn’t get any fast times, but did snag one heat race win in our Raptor Racing Engines powered Light 160 and Eli got his best Junior Honda finish with a second in his heat!

Features got underway with the threat of weather moving in. (Why does it choose to rain on race days so often?!) Eli unfortunately missed his feature race due to hockey. He loves hockey and we allowed him to make that choice, which he told us “it was a good choice.” 🙃 Kelby was only able to sneak in his Senior Honda race where he would finish second before the rain rolled in canceling the remainder of the day.

Overall, it was a solid day at the track and we all enjoy our time being home with our Elko friends. We have next week off from racing at home, but may enjoy a little traveling chasing those checkers…we will see! Until then, our next scheduled race will be at Little Elko on Sunday, June 21…which also happens to be Father’s Day!

Week 3 at MQMRA - Little Elko Speedway was our first time back with all our favorite cars and boy was it a “favorite day!” A big THANK YOU to Papa Tom and Meme Julie who rolled in from Florida at 5pm Saturday with all the cars to make today happen!

🌧️Mother Nature tried to “rain on our parade” but our club didn’t let her win the day! After a three hour rain delay we were able to squeak in a full race day before the next rainstorm rolled in.

🏎️Eli unfortunately has not had much track time this season with his car in the trailer with Kelby’s traveling all over. He did get some laps in while in Texas, but the lack of seat time is definitely hurting him. He gave it what he was comfortable with starting and finishing fifth in the heat race. Feature time came and unfortunately Eli got tangled under caution wrecking a lot of parts and ultimately cutting his day short.

🏎️Kelby was beyond excited to have his actual cars home and you could tell he was as comfortable as ever in them! He came out blazing starting seventh in the heat and driving straight to the front for his first win of the day! Kelby would drive the wheels off the other two as well finishing second in both his Light 160 and Light World Formula heats.

💥Feature time came with Kelby kicking off with his Senior Honda. He was running second when he was sent to the back for an incident on the track. He was determined more than ever now (you know the…”I’m really mad” kind of determined 🤨) to get back to the front. An unfortunate mishap happened to the leader, who had quite the lead at that point, bunching the field back up which was exactly what Kelby needed to get the job done! 🏁

💥 The Light 160 feature was next up and he started in the dreaded 4th place position 🥴 He fell a few spots, slowly worked his way up to battle for the lead, and was able to make it happen taking home his second checkers of the day!🏁 powered

💥 Finally, he jumped into his Light World Formula which ultimately was a rocket. He bounced around on the outside for a few laps before settling in and picking off cars. He pulled away and held on through some late-race cautions to snag his third set of checkers!🏁

We are still bummed to not be racing the Dixie Shootout Series race this coming weekend in New Smyrna,FL , but some things at home need us more. The boys will take on Little Elko’s first qualifying day on Sunday, June 7; which will now also be the day Eilen & Sons Trucking will be sponsoring! Qualifying will kick the day off at 10am with opening ceremonies and racing to follow. Admission is always free and the kids love having the stands full!

Thank you to our sponsors and partners who make these days happen:

😔We are beyond bummed, but understand and appreciate the early notice.

🚨We are incredibly sorry to share this update…🚨

Due to the weather forecast for this weekend in Daytona, the Dixie Board has made the very difficult and unfortunate decision to postpone the race. This is not a decision we take lightly, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment this causes for our racers, teams, and families.

Our number one goal is to provide the best event possible, and with the incoming weather, we felt this was the only way to ensure a safe and high-quality experience for everyone involved.

The event will now be moved to our scheduled Dixie Shootout rain date:
📅 September 18–20, 2026
✅ The event schedule will remain the same.

We completely understand that this is far from ideal, and we truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work to make this event the best it can be.

If you are already registered, no action is needed—your registration will carry over.
Registration will reopen for any additional participants who wish to join.

Our hearts are shattered by the sudden passing of Kyle Busch. He was an icon of the sport. Love him or hate him - everyone knew him. This family had a special place for him and someone was always sure to fight over who got to “pick” him as the winner. Forever in our hearts. Fly high Rowdy🏁

The entire MQMRA - Little Elko Speedway family sends our deepest condolences to the Busch family.

Kyle was so much than a race car driver. He was a dad, a husband, a friend, a fierce competitor, a champion, and one of the most talented drivers to ever climb behind the wheel. His passion, intensity, and drive made him unforgettable in the racing world.

Through every win, every battle, and every comeback, Kyle showed us what it meant to never back down. He raced with heart, grit, and determination, inspiring fans and young racers everywhere.

Kyle was at one time also of us, a quarter midget parent. Watching and teaching Brexton was one of his absolute favorite things and we had the pleasure of seeing that first hand.

Thank you, Kyle Busch, for the memories, the excitement, and the legacy.

Week 2 at MQMRA - Little Elko Speedway was much less eventful for our driver; thankfully!! He still only raced in the Senior Honda class as all of our regular racecars are still in the south for a few more weeks. The “backup” car was decent…a sixth place car based on timing, but our little wheeler didn’t let that hold him back! Kelby received the dreaded outside starting spot on the front row for the heat race. He was shuffled back, but worked his way to finish second. He started third in the 12-car feature where he would find himself muscling out another second place finish for the day! He is hungry to get his cars home and dad is hungry to get his setup stuff and tools home for the rest of the Little Elko season!!

Racing was fun, but the highlight of Kelby’s day was after the races when he and his best friend Leighton Rose Racing hit the track together for some fun - and I think their moms loved it just as much as they did! These two have grown so close through racing and not having one another this year has been a big change…today was exactly what they needed!

Next up both the Eilen boys will head to the Sunshine State to race at the iconic Daytona International Speedway for round three of the Dixie Shootout Series on May 30!🏁
