A few years ago, I had to face a hard truth: the culture and retention struggles at my dealership were on me. My attitude wasn’t what my team deserved. I took accountability, learned from leaders like Andy Frisella, and focused on building a positive culture.
We created the Extra Mile Award: each month, we celebrate an employee who not only elevates our dealership but grows personally, with a trip and time off. At year’s end, we honor one standout “Extra Mile” Employee of the Year.
I lost good people before I owned my faults. Now, people work with me, not for me, and they’re here because they want to be, not because they have to be. That shift has transformed my dealership, and me.
