Almost done with the OX, She ran well 5700 RPMs gave 44 to 48 mph. Handles well with the added weight in the bow. The electronics work well a few more items and it’s a wrap and ready for paint .

Update boat was floated and as expected a vast improvement but I want more and the decking or standing surface of the deck to be at about a 3 degrees angle. Some changes in weight moving some item to the bow area and added weight in the form of lead will raise the stern and allow the deck drains to be above the water line even when the fuel tank is full and someone is fishing the rear deck.

Removed the bracket glassed the original mounting points now to reattach it almost 7 inches higher to give the proper amount of freeboard to the bracket and motor. One thing people don’t think about is that the cavitation plate if your running your boat and it’s under water. When you try to trim the boat rather than just lifting the bow it works like bow planes on a submarine. It will pull the stern down trying to raise the bow but the biggest effects are pulling the stern down low in the water causing drag and effecting the trim hurting the ability of the boat to break free of the static water Drag and keeping it from achieving a true plane on top of the water. It’s the little things your cavitation plate should be about 1 inch above the running water up on plane. Eliminating the downward pull if you start to trim your bow up by changing the angle of attack you prop is making on the water 👍

Well picked up another project it was just not working for the previous owners. The transom bracket was way to low 5 inches letting the water run up and drown the lower unit of the motor , Also putting the Cav plate under the water causing it to bow lift. We are removing the bracket adding about 160 lbs of lift area. Raising it 5 1/2 inches and moving the batteries and fresh water wash down tank to the front. A little work on the C/G and proper bracket height should make her work better 👍

Summer is almost over loads going on this year with the Grady engine update, the C4 corvette finished and sold, the C3 almost done, and a Jeep build almost finished .

Summer is almost over and it’s time to start on our winter projects here at Cat4. We are pulling the 502 from the Scarab and rebuilding it and the out drive. The Grady White is coming in for a repaint and some repair. Last weekend was a Poker run and it was fun as always. Running hard and burning fuel ⛽️. What else is there

Boating is always good and Saturday September 5th was a stellar day in boating , a Trump parade was happening and it was a vast range of boats and people boating, And remember a great day at work is never as good as a bad day boating 🤷‍♂️
