Speaking of bringing our builds back for upgrades… 🐝

The Queen Bee is back in the shop!

We originally built this Transit almost two years ago, and after plenty of time actually living and traveling in it, its owner has figured out a couple of things she'd like to change.

First up: the fridge. The original worked for her needs when we built the van, but she's officially outgrown it. So we're swapping it for something roomier and better suited to the way she travels now.

We're also adding a city water connection and bypass, giving her the option to hook directly to campground water when it's available — bypassing the onboard fresh-water tank and pump entirely.

That's one of the great things about a custom build: it doesn't have to stay frozen in time. Needs change. Travel habits change. And sometimes the thing you thought would be plenty big turns out to be… definitely not plenty big. 😂

We're always happy to see one of our builds come home for a visit — especially when we get to make it work even better for its next adventure. 🐝💛

This Vision Van is one of ours from about six years ago, and it recently came back to the shop for some HVAC work.

While it was here, we noticed something else we could help with. When we originally built the van, we had no way of knowing exactly what equipment and supplies the clinic would eventually need to carry every day. Six years later… we had a pretty good idea. 😂

Their rear garage had become a hardworking catch-all for cords, cleaning supplies, cones, hoses, tools and everything else needed to keep a mobile clinic running.

So while the van was in our hands, we gave the garage a little attention too — adding dedicated storage and mounting locations to get things off the floor, easy to see, and easy to grab.

Nothing fancy. Just a simple upgrade designed around how the van is actually being used after years on the road.

One of the things we love about seeing our older builds come back: we get to see what worked, what changed, and where we can make them even better. ❤️

Apparently we’ve entered the “if it fits, it ships” phase of the summer. 😂

A Sprinter, a ProMaster, another Sprinter, a school bus, a couple motorcycles… and somewhere in there, our crew is actually supposed to have room to work.

To say the shop is SLAMMED right now might be an understatement.

Between full builds, partial conversions, service work, repairs, upgrades, and a few projects that definitely don’t fit neatly into any category, there’s a little bit of everything happening at Coastal Conversions right now!

If you’ve been thinking about getting your van, bus, trailer, or specialty vehicle on our schedule, now is a very good time to start the conversation — because apparently our solution to running out of room is just… finding room. 😆

👀 Okay… who wants to guess what THIS one is going to be?

Another bus has officially made its way into the Coastal Conversions shop — and this one is going to be a little different.

We know exactly what it’s becoming.

You don’t. 😏

And for now, we’re keeping it that way.

Right now, it’s about as bare-bones as it gets — but not for long. We’re starting from the guts and building this one into something you probably won’t see coming. 👀

We’ll be sharing progress as we build it, but we’re going to try VERY hard not to give away the answer too soon.

🔧 There’s Never a Dull Day in the Coastal Conversions Shop.

One of our favorite things about service work is the sheer variety — no two vans, problems, or customer wish lists are quite the same. And lately, we’ve had some especially interesting ones:

🚐 Flarespace bumpouts + windows — adding valuable sleeping width and bringing more light into the van.

🧰 Rocker Lockers on a Sprinter 144 — making use of otherwise wasted exterior space for some seriously handy additional storage.

👀 Custom rear box carrier modification — reworking an existing setup to improve rear visibility without sacrificing the storage the customer needed.

🏕️ Roof rack + awning installation — adding usable storage up top and some much-needed shade at camp.

💧 Frozen-pipe plumbing repair — tracking down a leak caused by freeze damage, finding the actual problem, and getting the system back in working order.

Some days we’re installing brand-new gear. Other days we’re modifying something that almost works, chasing down a mystery leak, or figuring out how to make a customer’s existing setup work better.

Upgrades. Repairs. Modifications. And a whole lot of problem solving.

🎒📚 The Mobile Classroom is getting close...

This project has been packed with custom details, creative engineering, and some incredible collaborations. One of our favorite partnerships on this build has been with Maker Table out of Tennessee, who helped bring several of our custom metal components to life; their craftsmanship has been outstanding—and there are still a few surprises we aren't ready to reveal just yet. 👀

As you can see from these teaser photos, the classroom is really starting to come together. Most of the custom cabinetry is in place, the metalwork is being installed, and all of the little finishing touches are beginning to transform this bus into something truly special.

We're keeping the biggest reveal under wraps for now, but trust us... this one is going to be worth the wait.

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is:
