Temperature gauge climbing? Don't ignore it. 🌡️

Keep driving while your car is overheating, and you can blow a head gasket, warp the cylinder head, or ruin the engine. A simple repair can turn into a new engine, or even a new car.

If it happens: turn off the AC, pull over safely, shut off the engine, and don't open the radiator cap while it's hot. Then have it towed or checked.

Our Ross Downing Chevrolet service team in Hammond can find the cause, whether it's coolant, a thermostat, the water pump or a fan.

Is synthetic oil worth it? 🛢️

For most newer vehicles, yes, and many newer engines call for it. Synthetic holds up better in high heat and flows more easily at startup. Whether you're towing with a Silverado or sitting in traffic on Morrison Blvd., your oil is working hard.

Check your owner's manual for the oil your engine calls for, and follow your oil life monitor. Our Ross Downing Chevrolet service team in Hammond is here when it's time.
