🚨 Louisiana Inspection Sticker Update 🚨
As many of you have heard, Louisiana has officially passed legislation that will eliminate the traditional vehicle inspection sticker program for most personal vehicles.
Beginning January 1, 2027:
✅ Annual inspection stickers will be replaced with a state-issued QR code tied to your vehicle registration.
✅ These QR codes will NOT be distributed by inspection stations, including Phares Glass.
✅ The QR codes will be issued by the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) as part of your vehicle registration or renewal process.
⚠️ Please do not come to inspection stations looking for the new QR code. It will be mailed or otherwise provided through the OMV—not through inspection stations.
Some commercial vehicles, school buses, and vehicles subject to federal emissions requirements will still have inspection requirements.
🚔 Good news for drivers: Effective June 30, 2026, through January 1, 2027, law enforcement officers cannot issue citations solely for an expired or missing inspection sticker. Louisiana State Police have already stopped enforcing inspection sticker violations during this transition period.
⚠️ Please remember that all other traffic laws and vehicle equipment requirements still apply, so it’s important to keep your vehicle safe and roadworthy.
