The walleye fishing is still pretty descent. The lakes are chocked full of 3” shad right now. If you find the numbers of walleye you can still get a few biters. 17 keepers for my customers over last four guide trips Only had one day last Saturday where I couldn’t get them to go, but they still caught plenty of other fish. They are at all depths right now, out of those 17 keepers they came in 3’, 6’, 13’, 24’, and 38’. Of water .

Walleye fishing in Kansas continues to be amazing. I have had a handful of new customers and a lot of regulars that fish with me every year. I have been chasing walleyes since I caught my first fish at turkey point melvern lake in 1982 and I can’t remember our lakes ever being better fishing than they are right now. Here are a few pics of some of our guide trips over last month.

Walleye fishing in Kansas continues to be excellent. I’ve had customers 12 of the last 14 days. Best guess is around 800 walleyes have been caught in my boat last 2 weeks. I had my clients Tony and amber help keep count on Wednesday and the final number was 115 walleyes and we didn’t keep track of any other fish. For 5 1/2 hrs of fishing that is pretty crazy for 2 poles. The lakes I have guided on last couple weeks Milford, Marion, kanopolis Wilson and we’ve caught good fish at all four lakes. We had a pretty good week of fishing. I didn’t keep count but I’m pretty sure we boated and I unhooked well over 100 walleyes this week. I had 2 groups of customers from wichita, along with a couple today from Winfield and yesterday’s guys from Elinwood. Our biggest fish this week was 25” that we released back into the lake for someone else to catch. I fished eldorado , Marion and kanopolis lakes this week.

Marion lake/ reservoir. I had a out of state crew today of Carl,Tom and Larry. Larry had health problems and was givin just a few months to live so they wanted to get him out on one last fishing trip. I was glad to be able to get them on some fish and create some lasting memories. We caught several nice walleyes but only one made the 21” mark along with catfish, white bass and wipers. It was chilly and blowing 25. out of north but when the fish are biting who cares about the weather. We cleaned a few so they could have some supper and threw the rest back.

It was a tad bit breezy out on the lake today. My phone said 35 mph but it seemed stronger than that. I’ve had several customers in the past couple weeks and we have been catching lots of fish just not the walleye were after. The best wiper and striper bite has been in that 20’ - 30’ range this past week. Hopefully the wind will lay down and we can get back to some jig fishin.

Thanks to my buddy Marlon Trible for helping me put together a program for the national walleye tour event on Green Bay. He’s one hell of a walleye fisherman. I finished 22nd out of 123 boats on the pro side. A few pics from this last week of prefishing for tourney.

This past week I spent four days on Wilson lake with customers from Kansas City, Wichita, sabetha and halsted. The walleye bite has slowed down some as the dog days of summer has arrived and also the young of the year Shad are snack size now for all the game fish. The walleye are still able to be caught but the bite windows are smaller sometimes only for an hour or less so you have to trust your electronics and work the fish your marking until they decide to eat.

We boxed 9 beautiful Kansas walleyes with jerry and his grandkids bri and Isaac. They did really well fighting the wind and the fish for a couple 11 year olds. The highlight of the day was a triple , all keepers, scooped in the same net. All the fish were caught on some custom crawler harnesses I built last winter.
