⛽ Gas prices have us all squinting at our fuel gauges, hoping there is enough fuel to get your destination. 😱
We’ve seen people trying to draft behind semi-trucks and coasting down Long Hill Rd in neutral just to save a nickel. But before you start looking for a sail to strap to your roof, let’s talk about some car maintenance that actually works (and won’t get you pulled over).
Think of your car like a marathon runner. If they’re wearing flip-flops (bad tires), breathing through a straw (dirty air filter), and haven’t had water in three days (old oil), they aren't winning any races—and they’re burning way too much energy.

How to stop your car from drinking gas like it’s at an open bar:

1. Tire Pressure: Low tires are basically like driving through sand. Fill 'em up and save enough for a decent cup of coffee every week. ☕
2. The "Check Engine" Light: It’s not just a dashboard decoration or a cozy orange nightlight. A bad oxygen sensor can tank your mileage by 40%. That’s basically like throwing a 20-dollar bill out the window every time you hit the highway. 💸
3. Alignments: If your car is pulling to the right, it’s not trying to take you to the scenic route—it’s dragging its feet and wasting your fuel.

Don’t let your car treat your wallet like an all-you-can-eat buffet. Swing by Groton Tire and Auto at 609 Long Hill Rd. We’ll get you running lean and mean so you can spend your money on things you actually enjoy—like literally anything other than gas.

Is your car/truck currently making noises that sound like a heavy metal band performing inside a blender? 🎸🥤
Winter in Connecticut is officially over (although it hasn't felt like it), but your car is still holding a grudge. Between the salt, the slush, and that one pothole on Route 1 that definitely had its own zip code, your ride has been through the blender.
If your alignment is so off that your car keeps trying to "steer" into the nearest Dunkin’ without your permission, it’s time for a check-up. 🍩☕️
At Groton Tire and Auto, we’ll help you shake off the winter blues with:
✅ Alignment Checks (Because driving straight shouldn't be a workout)
✅ Tire Rotations / Summer swap out (Give them a fresh start!)
✅ Suspension Repairs (For when that pothole actually won)
✅ And all your other auto repair and maintenance!
Don’t let your car’s "Check Engine" light become your new favorite dashboard decoration.

Is Your Car Still Steering Toward Winter? 🚗💨

The snow might be melting with today’s mild 54°F high, but Groton’s roads have left behind a "parting gift": potholes. After a season of freeze-thaw cycles and corrosive road salt, your vehicle’s suspension and alignment have taken a beating.
At Groton Tire and Auto, we know that winter doesn't just make the ride bumpy—it fundamentally changes how your car handles. Cold temperatures cause rubber bushings and seals to stiffen, while hydraulic fluid in your shocks thickens, leading to a harsher, less responsive ride.
The Winter Toll on Your Suspension & Tuning:
Pothole Impact: Striking a hidden crater can bend control arms, shift subframe mounting points, or knock your alignment severely out of spec.
Corrosive Salt: Road salt accelerates rust on critical suspension parts like ball joints, sway bar links, and coil springs, which can lead to structural weakness and snapping.
Hardened Components: Freezing temperatures make metal components contract, putting extra stress on springs and control arms, often resulting in new creaks, clunks, or rattles.
Tuning & Stability: Worn shocks and struts reduce tire-to-road contact, significantly increasing your stopping distance and decreasing traction during spring rain showers.
Signs Your Car Needs a Post-Winter "Reset":
Your steering wheel is off-center when driving straight.
The car "nose-dives" during braking or bounces excessively over bumps.
You notice uneven "feathering" or rapid wear on your tire treads.
Don't wait until a minor misalignment turns into a major suspension failure. Protect your investment with a professional precision alignment and full suspension tuning today.

Headline: We’re back (and we’ve finally found the shop)! ❄️🚗

Well, Blizzard Calvin gave it its best shot, but we’re officially dug out and ready for action! A massive shout-out to our incredible plow person for finding our parking lot under all that "scientific nope". And a huge thank you to our hardworking crew who traded their sleep for shovels to make sure we could open our doors today. 🛠️🙌
We hear there’s a little more snow coming tomorrow, but let’s be real—after yesterday, that’s basically just a light dusting of powdered sugar. 🍩 We plan to be OPEN for our regular hours but call if you have any question.
Don't let the slush get the best of you! Whether you need a post-blizzard checkup, a fresh set of winter tires, or a battery that actually starts in the cold, we've got you covered.
📞 Call us at 860-448-0058 to grab an appointment before they’re all gone!
Stay safe, stay warm, and we'll see you at the shop! ☕️❄️

🚨 CLOSED TODAY 🚨
We tried to tell the snow we have a busy schedule today, but it didn't listen. For the safety of our team (and because we can’t actually find the shop under this white blanket), Groton Tire and Auto Service is CLOSED today. ☃️🚗
We’ll be out there with our plows and shovels later today and will evaluate a reopening time for tomorrow once the dust—well, the powder—settles.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience! Stay warm and stay off the roads today.
