Focus-distraction-double minded

James emphatically declares that a double minded man cannot even imagine he will be able to receive anything from the Lord. Double minded means a man that is twice in mind sets, twice in feelings, twice in desires and twice in affections, twice in destination and twice in focus or his focus is out of focus! This person is torn by wanting to believe, but allowing every wavering wind push them further into doubt and fear.
At all times we need to make up our mind in what we believe and why, this is the foundation of everything we pray for, if we hope to receive the answers for all our prayers. The psalmist declares on the day I called upon You, You will answer. This palmist was single minded and fully expecting an answer.
Sometimes adversities can create a blowing wind of confusion of doubt and fear, we allow our minds to think and imagine defeat and failure. But James warns us of being twice minded. How many times have we all hit a wall or found ourselves glaring into a sea and our thoughts and imaginations ran wild. We can appreciate how the Israelites felt looking into the expanse of the Red Sea with an enemy charging from the rear. However, we are warned to stay single minded and focused. I have found myself in this place, it seems that we are being boxed in, our enemies are gloating over us and then the wait for an answer or a breakthrough it can seem excruciating.
Jesus makes this statement in Luke 18:1. I wish all men would pray and not faint, lose heart or give up. This command from Christ sets the tone how we should pray. James further explains the reason for this, if we expect to receive anything from God, the. We have to be singularly focused. When we feel we are boxed in or trapped by circumstances there are certain responses we must have if we expect to have a victory.
First, we need to identify what our battle actually is, not assumed, but a specific issue.
Second: we need to craft our response based on the word of God. What is the exact promises that deal with this circumstance.
Third. Pray in the Spirit until we have the wisdom to speak, it is by allowing the Spirit to pray the perfect will of God in us.
Fourth. Settle the answer and promise in our mind and soul. This settlement in our thinking is the conduit to our believing and speaking. Jesus says in Matthew that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The mouth speaks what is rolling in our minds and souls. Get the answer concretely planted inside of us and be steadfast.
Fifth. Pray, worship and give thanks in faith, single minded and with the words that create the atmosphere of potentiality for the impossible to become possible.
In my life these battles have been not easy, usually very intense and long, but God has never failed me not a single time. Proverbs 22:17; says: we should listen and consent to the words of wisdom, apply our mind to knowledge, for it will be pleasant if we keep them in our minds believing them, and our lips will be accustomed to speaking them so our trust and belief will be in Jehovah.
Right mindsets come from the right input of wisdom and knowledge from Jehovah. This is our foundation to find our breakthroughs and victories. Single minded. Settled in our soul. Our mouths speaking life. Our focus on the horizon, and worshiping and giving thanks without ceasing. Remember the 4 movements of life. Stand, walk, sit and meditate and speak. This covers all of those. So be still and know He is God.

It must be in faith that he asks with no wavering no hesitating, no doubting.
For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything [he asks for] from the Lord,
For being as he is a man of two minds hesitating, dubious, irresolute, he is unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything he thinks, feels, decides. James‬ ‭1:6-8‬ ‭

Sit stand walk and talk

4 movements we have in life. Everything we do in life will involve all of these movements. Sit, stand, walk and talk. In Ps 1 David addresses 3 if these in vers 1 and in verse 2 the 4th is revealed. However in v1 it tells what not to do:
•Walk not in the plans and counsel of the ungodly following their plans and ideas
•Stand not where sinners walk, do not be where wickedness flourishes. The idea here is to not be inactive and submissive but be active against wickedness.
*Sit not and relax and rest with the scorners and mockers. Don’t be like them
•In verse 2 it says meditate say and night in the word. Meditate means to think deeply and speak
In the movements of our life we must look carefully where we walk, stand, sit and how and what we speak.
Paul writes that we walk by the Spirit, we should walk in Christ and we should walk in the light as He is the light. This teaches us that our way of life should not be lived by ungodly counsel, but our life should be guided by the Spirit and in His fullness of wisdom. Not by evil.
Ephesians tells us 4 times to stand. Against the strategies of satan. Stand in the evil day if danger. Stay firmly in crisis and stand in the armor of God. We should never stand in evil places inactive as ps 1 declares. We should always stand as light. We should always stand in His truth. And never stand in evil.
Ephesians 2:6 says we are seated in heavenly places in Christ. This means we are in a place of rest and peace. We are in a place of refuge as we are seated with Him. Ps 1 says sit not with scorners and mockers. Because we are seated with Him we can draw counsel and wisdom. If we sit with scorners we will become angry, bitter and empty.
Ps 1 says meditate day and night. Jesus says a good man from the good treasure in him will bring forth good things. Mark 4 says what we think on becomes a truth we live by. So as we meditate on His word, truth becomes our strength and we bring forth good things. We speak the truth, we speak His will and we speak life. Proverbs says death and life are in the power of the tongue. So be sure you are living and meditating in His truth so your words wil be life and not death.
If you are siting, walking, standing or talking in a wrong way, one of your movements is keeping you out of the will of God. All 4 of these movements must be in harmony with God for us to believe, pray and be free. Get one or two of these out of sync and trouble will come. Watch where we walk, stand, sit and how we talk. Be still and know He is God.

Standing anyway

Paul commends us to stand and hold our ground 4 times in Ephesians 6. So obviously this is important for us to understand what standing and holding our ground actually means. We hear people say they are standing for this or that, some are in the world for world peace, but a look at their stand and it is all empty. No engagement with the adversary, not any effort other than saying the words I am standing. Too stand for something there must be more than a statement of a mental acknowledgment, it has to involve action, strength, wisdom and a belief that runs to the depth of your being, or you will never stand. Stand means: to establish a thing, cause it to stand, to uphold or sustain the authority or force of anything‭, stand still, to stand immovable, stand firm‭, of the foundation of a building‭, to be of a steadfast mind‭, of quality, one who does not hesitate, does not waiver‭. So to really take a stand, you have to be convinced this is the place and space and time to do this. To stand we must live in the authority of Christ and be ready to defend our cause. To stand we must be firm, uncompromising and willing to stand until we win. Jesus talks about two men building a house. One built this house on the sand, the reason is, it was easier to dig a footing in the sand and lay foundation where there was less pushback and less required, and so that man built this house on the foundation established on sand. But when trouble came, the house collapsed. The other man built this house upon a firm foundation of the rock something that’s immovable and steadfast, and when troubles came to that house it stood fast. In Ephesians 6 Paul says 4 times to stand and hold your ground. But only after we have drawn strength from God and put on the armor He had supplied our Rock. Paul said we will fight the strategies of satan. We will have evil days of danger. We will have crises to deal with. Paul says: stand successfully, resist and hold your ground, stand firmly in your place and stand therefore hold into your ground. Our battle for our ground will require us to take an unwavering stand to defend our heritage and destiny. We will have to resist, we will have to be firm and we will have to so established we will not be moved. So prepare yourself, spiritually, in our souls and in our bodies to make these stands. I can tell you by experience, to stand in some places will take everything you have spiritually, emotionally and physically to hold your ground. Be prepared in all three dimensions. Be still and know He is God.

“Put on God's whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.” Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭11‬ ‭

Challenging yourself

People who wish to overcome and be victorious and champions in faith they build the right processes. They stay disciplined. They're consistent when nobody is watching. And they challenge themselves enough to fail. Remember Peter steeping out of the boat? If you are not challenging yourselves on a regular basis, you will become weaker and not stronger. The trait of these folks will find adversity and they view adversity as a gift, and the more you put yourself out there in a battle of your journey the more adversity you will face and in that battle you will learn how to be a champion and overcomer. They see pressure is a privilege, they embrace it, because the easy thing to do is avoid the struggle and run from the darkness and let fear dictate your next move. None of us yearn for adversity or pressure, in fact most look for a way to avoid it. We may not want this, but some adversity and pressure is needed to form us to live in our journey way. But these moments of pressure and adversity are where mental toughness, faith and courage are built. Some days we seem to take two steps forward. And other days you take one step back. It is in these days when we have to take inventory of ourselves, maybe change our mentality and take ownership of what we can control and be still and know He is God. Think about the pressure David was under for years avoiding Saul. What about Joshua that spent years under pressure in a strange land. And Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane as recorded by Luke. “And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” What we we go through is nothing compared to these examples. If we spend our life avoiding battles, we will certainly live in bo***ge to fear and emptiness. Only by being engaged in living life and fighting with faith will bring a fulfillment that we will never know otherwise. The thing about not trusting God and living by faith is the regrets you will have because you didn’t trust Him with His plan. The sadness of missing the opportunities because we got scared to trust. So instead let’s chase the opportunity, let’s face the adversities and look for the battle fields we need to be in. Don’t retreat but press forward in faith. Be still and know He is God. Live as a conqueror!!!

Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil. Expanding your faith to receive your vision

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.” Proverbs 16 declares 4 times about plans and thoughts that God arranges for us, and these verses declare that God ordains and establishes our steps and arranged the circumstances in our life to get us to the place in our vision. David faced the giant, Daniel spent the night with lions and 3 friends walked into a fiery furnace and walked out. Abraham had a son at 100. Jesus said in Mark 11 if we can speak to the mountain and if we believe what we say will take place, and if we believe then it will happen. To live in this space, will require to make adjustments to the way we believe, think and live.
We “‭Make room for what you pray for and believe God will make it happen and it will happen.” To make room for what we pray for to happen, we really need to believe that it is possible. So many people pray but never believe, they talk about their problems and have more faith in the problems than in the God that created it all. So these people never develop the capacity to hold the faith to bring their vision to reality, we need the Rhema word to build the capacity we need. To develop this capacity and to have the room for vision and destiny we must have a persistent, consistent diligent push in prayer and study and confession of the word. Capacity for faith will not just happen, it takes effort and commitment to stay focused and live our destiny with a clarity of vision. Never doubt but believe those things you pray for will take place and it will happen. As we build out our frame work of faith we put ourselves in the place of all things are possible. But remember we can only go as far as framework is deep and established. Jesus speaks of two houses, one built on the sand and one established on the rock. One fell when the storms came, the sand washed away and the house fell. The house built on the rock stood the test of time and pressure. Dig deep and build strong your framework and have the faith to see your vision through. Follow your faith.

Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him.
For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe trust and be confident that it is granted to you, and you will get it. ‭‭Mark‬ ‭11:23-24‬ ‭

The importance of knowing your design and God’s promises of provision.

I think the hard part of believing that we have a destiny and God promises are for us and that He will provide for in our assignments, is walking through the difficult places in life. These hard places seem to come around and last longer than we expected. These places are the valleys that David writes about in Ps 23. These are the places of trouble and distress. These are the places where the drought and famine seem to run deep. These are the places where we have to have an understanding of our life assignments, if we expect to overcome and accomplish our design. If we allow these places to overwhelm or capture our focus we will never be able to move forward, but we will stay stuck in a place of nothingness and this will inevitably become full of bitterness and resentment. I think we can all relate a little bit to this. I know I can, I have been here, frustrated and fatigued, but through all the fog of battles, we all know we cannot quit. When David sat in his house with Nathan the prophet, David makes a statement: Behold, I dwell in a house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord remains under tent curtains. David had in his heart to build a true house of worship for God. This was part of his assignment. David was king, warrior, worship leader and a house of God builder. We see in David that our assignments are rarely just one dimensional, but they will have a number of journeys. David like Joseph had to endure seasons of war and proving before he was finally the king. So we should not think it strange that we also will have experiences that seem to last years, but they are here to train and prove us for the greatest of our assignments within our destiny. Peter writes think it not strange that these fiery trials have come upon you. They are here to make your faith like pure gold. Have you spent the time with God to understand the fullness of all the different assignments in your life. The importance of knowing your design and God’s promises of provision, always knowing that God will provide for you and your house, because He is full of mercy and grace. He will never fail you nor forsake you. You have His word that cannot be broken or altered. The greatest assignment will be to be a builder in the kingdom and not a consumer, be one that blesses and not always looking for something. Find your journeys and be a builder. Be still and know He is God.

And David the king went in and sat before the Lord and said, Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house and family, that You have brought me up to this?
Therefore now, Lord, let the word which You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house be established forever, and do as You have said.1 Chronicles‬ ‭17:16, 23‬ ‭

Man does not live by bread alone.

Interesting thing about this verse in Deuteronomy that it is also in the gospels. Jesus declares this and Moses records the words: that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. This indicates a couple of mindsets. If you live by bread alone, then your mindset is set just in the bread of survival, pursuits and an amoral existence and nothing else. The Bible says: The word is near you even in your mouth that you can do it. The word will not be in your mouth if you are not feeding, meditating and being still with the Holy Spirit. The language of earth will be on your lips as John writes in Jn 3:31. This passage in Matthew 4:4 means to us that the true sustenance we need is not just bread, but the living word to nourish our being. It is only in the word of God that we find true life, meaning and purpose. If our only goal in life is to get bread or just the necessities to maintain life we will be miserable in living. Some may enjoy a life filled with stuff, but inside they are starving but something else, the bread of life. It is only when we feed ourselves with the bread of heaven that our true design will manifest and we find meaning and purpose and understand our engineered design and destiny. It isn’t just the provision of material well-being that allows us to live. This a much more difficult problem to solve. As we feed our inner man with life the. We realize we need to be engaged in the true life of the kingdom. We realize we need battles to fight. We need something to grapple with, we need a problem to solve, we need an idea to have and we need creativity to be release. We need meaning to justify our lives, that is to be found in finding our true purpose and contending for it. Contending may be hard at times but it is the pursuit of our calling that brings a true meaning to “why am I here”? Many people in the Bible had difficult times, hard times, places of life or death, but they traveled that path because it was their choice. They knew the God of heaven, and they called upon Him. They knew this was their life and they lived it. So don’t be satisfied with just the bread of natural pursuits, but ne nourished with the bread of heaven, meditate, pray, call upon God, know your destiny and fulfill your book.

And He humbled you and allowed you to hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you recognize and personally
know that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.
Your clothing did not become old upon you nor did your feet swell these forty years.
Know also in your [minds and] hearts that, as a man disciplines and instructs his son, so the Lord your God disciplines and instructs you. De 8:3-5‬ ‭

Reframing our approach to issues

How do you face unpleasant things? With fear, doubt, anxiety, panic, disgust, weariness, lots of wrong words or anger? We develop patterns in our life that overtime automatically kicks in and controls how we react. You would think after handling things wrongly we would finally see the error of our ways, one would think. But sometimes we can be hard, stubborn, ego driven and just can’t seem to acknowledge our faults. So in order for for us to change there needs to be a reframing of how you look at things and be able to refocus in faith and stop lettting circumstances destroy your moments of faith and hope. Expand your capacity to stand with a resiliency to be still long enough to see things as we should, instead of through the eyes of chaos and confusion. How do we change? Walk away momentarily and gather yourself and refuse to deal with things in frustration or fear as we used to, this is will be a new pattern for a lot of us. To just stop and pray, focus and be still
However we will certainly feel the weight of circumstances, we are not robots, however we cannot live in anger or pain, and continue making choices from a place of duress. It is the conquerer that fights from a place of peace and rest. With a steadiness of faith in God that produces in us, we can make better choices. I know this personally, years of fighting and doubting decisions and struggling to find a place of peace and confidence and dealing with all the destructive thoughts that are pushing you to agree with them. We all had at some point have to come to a place we knew that we needed to change. But as we fight battles over time, and especially if we seem to stay in the same position of battling, we can fail to stay grounded in the word, we drift little by little until we find ourselves at our present place of reacting wrongly every time. We look at all the folks in the Bible that conquered giants, became great and became a greater blessing. Those that moved kingdoms and stood strong in the midst of hostiles challenging them, were they that much different from us, or we just read these accounts and see these as some sort of story that happened long ago? James 5 says Elijah was a man just like us with like passions, yet he prayed for it not to rain and for 3 years it did not. David was a man as well so was Paul and Job all the others. They just made up their minds there was no other option but to trust in God, Whose word of Truth always prevails over facts. We must come to a place so that whatever we see before us, we trust in the truth of what God is saying about this. Because His word always triumphs over the facts. Focus on what is going right and then change what is wrong and make it right by changing the spiritual environment around the trouble. Speak into your trouble just as Jesus spoke to the fig tree. God’s Truth always prevails over facts. Speak and believe His truth.

So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

All, not part.

All, not part is what we are required to give to Christ. All of us, faults, blemishes and all the rest. I am pretty sure He already knows how we are. He always has know us. He planned for us, designed a life for us to life, and created a way back to Him thought the blood of Jesus. He has watched us fall and fail, He has sent help our way even though we never recognized it. But what does it mean to give all, how do we live and work, raise a family and make a mark? By giving Him all of us every day, in every aspect in every circumstance. This can be a difficult thing to grasp, because some will say you cannot have any fun, or enjoy the adventures of just living life. I understand that, I tried life on my own for a long time, and it just would not work. For the past 40 plus years Christ has been my Lord. He has led me, saved me, cleansed me and redeemed me and gave me a life worth living. Life can still be hard, but knowing Whose I am, makes even the difficult times seem easier. Abraham served God and held nothing back. He raised a family, had vast herds and people, but he had those things and they never had him. He was a witness every where he went. Kings and kingdoms feared him because of his covenant with God. To give all of us to Him puts us on a path of breakthroughs that actually mean something. No more chasing the wind or living as a pantomime, but actually living a life that will leave a mark of a witness of the redemptive work of Jesus in us. We will deal with trouble , have attacks but we win. I think about Paul who was beaten and suffered greatly but lived his best life and he won. Jesus Who was cruelly treated, beaten and spit upon and crucified, but He won. I think about Joseph, thrown into a pit, sold as a slave, sent to prison, but he won. Whatever any of us are facing, just know, He is for you and you will win. Give Him all and not a part. Be decisive and still and know He is God.

Fully persuaded and fully engaged.

Are we fully persuaded or just partially? Are we fully engaged or just somewhat ? There is a vast chasm between fully and partially! If we had to truly honestly describe where we are in our life, are we heading toward the mark if being fully persuaded and engaged or have we just fell into a rut of uttering all the right words, having all the right answers and just being religious and not staying connected to Him, spirit to Spirit. We live in some very different and strange times, much different than the past. Now information is being disseminated at the speed of the web. Some of this is just data noise, AI generated decoys to spread so much information that we just get lost in the flow. This is why it is so difficult to stay fully engaged in our journey. The endless junk reels, emails, news feeds and podcast after podcast, you tube channels, 1000 cable channels and websites without number. Then the dark web with all of its content. To stay fully engaged through all of this takes a great deal of focus and discipline to cut through all the noise and distractions and stay on point, while listening carefully to what the Spirit of God is saying. It can be so very easy to substitute religious activities instead of faith in our service without really understanding what we have become. John writes that we should make up our minds and either be hot or cold and not lukewarm. John also writes that we should return to our first love. James writes about a double minded man and Jesus has plenty to say about the faithless religious structures of His day, so much that He turned over the tables of the money changers and drove out all those who were profiting in the worship and offerings of God. We see daily some minister or other people in a church praising drag queens or saying that Paul was the antichrist or Jesus really was raised from the dead or God is non binary. The Noise is a constant flow to disrupt our journey with distractions and doubts. Paul writes in Romans 8: that he was persuaded beyond all doubt. PAUL was fully persuaded and fully engaged. Paul had plenty of experience with distractions. He was thrown into prisons, beaten on many occasions, his own countrymen tried to kill him, shipwrecked, spent nights in the cold. But Paul kept his focus and stayed fully engaged. Nehemiah stayed fully persuaded in his mission to rebuild the city and he was fully engaged. Nehemiah had personal attacks, threats and a number of attempt to intimidate him. But Nehemiah just stayed fully engaged. What about us? How persuaded are you of your mission? How engaged in your faith journey are you? Answer those questions honestly and you will have your answer. Ps 55 says I am distracted by the noise of the enemy. Today meditate day and night. Pray always. Learn to let your spirit connect with the Holy Spirit, listen in the stillness and quietness and know He is God.

“For I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers,” separate us from the love of God.
