Hey y’all,
I hope this message finds you well. I want to take a moment to clear the air about some rumors and misconceptions surrounding my headlight conversion business, Corvette Innovationz . It’s been a wild ride, and I feel it’s important to share my side of the story, especially since I’ve been receiving death threats and a lot of unfounded assumptions from folks who think they know what’s going on.
First off, let me say this loud and clear: I have NOT scammed anyone. After being featured on the Cleetus McFarland YouTube channel, I sold over $60,000 worth of lights in just one day. That success left me sold out of my custom-made lights, which I had sourced from China.
When COVID-19 hit, I was gearing up to order a whole container full of lights for future sales. Unfortunately, my supplier was shut down by the Chinese government and couldn’t fulfill my order. Faced with this challenge, I decided to pivot to an all-American-made product. I put down $50,000 upfront to hire a local engineer to produce the lights in-house, believing this was the right move for both quality and my customers.
I also want to emphasize that while I did outsource the lights themselves, I have always made the custom billet aluminum brackets and armature right here in the USA. I believe in supporting local craftsmanship and ensuring that my products are built to the highest standards.
To speed things along, I launched a pre-order campaign. However, the machine we purchased—a Mazak 5-axis machine—was delayed by a year. I totally understand the frustration of my customers as they awaited their lights, and I tried my best to keep everyone informed. But as the delays mounted, so did the chargebacks, and I found myself investing even more time and money into this project, trying to make things right.
Despite selling about $80,000 worth of lights through pre-orders, the financial strain began to take its toll. I started seeing my account go negative, and I had to take a job to keep my head above water. For a year and a half, I worked tirelessly to pay back my customers while juggling my own bills. It was a tough situation, and I felt the weight of it every single day.
I want to reassure everyone that every single customer who pre-ordered has been reimbursed. I’ve lost a total of $140,000 in this endeavor, and it’s been one of the hardest experiences of my life. I still don’t have the lights from my original supplier, despite their promises and my upfront payment.
This whole ordeal has been overwhelming, and the rumors and threats have only added to the stress. I’m from the South, and we believe in honesty and integrity. If there’s one thing I know, it’s that I’ve poured my heart and soul into this business, and it hurts to see people jump to conclusions without knowing the full story.
But I want you all to know that we have not given up. Corvette Innovations is the originator of this style of sleepy headlight, and we are still committed to coming out with new products. It’s disheartening to see competitors using my product descriptions to boost their own offerings, taking advantage of Google analytics for their benefit, but we’re focused on what we do best.
