Jumper cables. Great device to start a car with a dead battery. Years ago when all electrical systems were similar, they worked well. Past 20 years, cars now have very different charging and electrical systems. Jumping a vehicle with your vehicle can render one of the vehicles electrically killed. Reason is if one vehicle has a 160 amp charging system and the other has a 110 amp charging system, when the vehicle being jumped starts and begins charging, you have 270 amps divided by two = 135 amps shared by both vehicles. The vehicle with the 110 amp system was just given 25 amps more than it was designed to handle. If lucky, fuses will burn. If not, computers may be damaged. Either way, car needs towed to a shop.

Vehicles that sit for periods of time without moving may exhibit an unusual brake noise or feel when they are driven. This happens because the brake rotors have rusted. Sometimes just driving the vehicle and removing the rust with normal brake contact will quiet them and make them smooth. Other times brake rotor replacement will be needed. If your vehicle has been sitting for a while, dont panic if you hear noise or feel vibration when braking. Give it a few days of driving before you condemn the rotors and replace them.

We are being inundated by phone calls for state inspections this week. We cannot accommodate all of you. But keep in mind, police officers are not pulling people over for expired inspections. In fact, if you are pulled over at this time, you did something that was so wrong, an officer felt compelled to pull you over to figure out why you're on the road. We are working hard to get you in, but you're fine if drive like you were taught to drive.

Synthetic oil vs semisynthetic vs conventional. Synthetic oil is a lab created product in which every molecule is identical in size and shape. Therefore, when synthetic oil is under stress, it produces less friction, heat, and breakdown on itself. When I say stress, I mean every time engine is running reguardless of rpm. So synthetic oil will keep it's original properties longer than conventional oil. Conventional oil molecules under a microscope look like jagged rocks of different size and beat each other up when stressed. So they wear down faster and cause more friction which produces more heat. Semisynthetic is a mix of both synthetic and conventional oils. Rules are that an oil manufacturer must use at least 5% synthetic oil mixed with 95% conventional oil to label it semisynthetic. Therefore, semisynthetic oil is a waste of money and breaks down just as fast as conventional. So pick a side for your next oil change and stick with it. If you own a turbo engine powered ride, synthetic is the only way to go.

During covid 19. Our hours are 9am to 530 pm mon through friday. Those hours will probably stay the same if this virus ever quits.
