"Mellow Motors has been Marin County institution since the 80s. I recently moved back to Larkspur so it was the obvious choice when my Nissan Rogue was due for service. Friendly, efficient, and informative telephone communication. Easy drop off and pick up. Highly recommended."

"I had a problem with my car, caused by another repair shop as it turns out, which was very difficult to find. But Mellow Motors was a) persistent, b) great with communication and c) they owned the problem - after they couldn't fix it the second time, they didn't charge me any more until the fixed it. These guys are easy to deal with and they are good. I won't go anywhere else."

As we celebrate 50 years in business we look back. Here is a shot from the early '70's, taken in our 65 Industrial Way, Greenbrae location. Left to right, friend of the shop, Bobby Weckel, founders, Ric Kellen and Chas Blackford, our first employee, Steve Bedillion. This was the shop we moved into after leaving the San Rafael location, right around the corner from our current location.

So digging thru the archives I've come up with what I believe may be the earliest known photo of Mellow Motors. Taken in 1972 at our original location on Belvedere Street in San Rafael. The building was located behind what is now Tacos el Ramiron, it was one of the original quonset huts from the long gone San Francisco Bay Airport. We were at this location for 6 months before moving to the Greenbrae location in the neighborhood that we are still located in. Pictured are the original founders, Ric Kellen and Chas Blackford, sitting on Chas' 36 Oldsmobile. The Alfa Romeo to the right belonged to the third original founder, Larry Buskirk.
