Tech Tip Tuesday 🔧

So what does short or long water pump actually mean? It refers to how far the water pump extends from the engine. Measure from the surface where the pump mounts to the engine to the face of the hub where the pulley mounts.

Why does it matter? That distance determines where your water pump pulley and the rest of your accessory drive sit. Pulleys and brackets designed for a short pump won’t properly align with a long pump setup, and vice versa.

For Chevy engines:
SBC: 5 5/8" short | 7" long
BBC: 5 3/4" short | 7 1/4" long

Chevy isn’t the only one, either. Long and short water pump configurations can also be found on Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Small Block Ford and AMC engines.

Knowing your water pump height is one of the first steps to making sure you order the right accessory drive components. When in doubt, grab a straightedge and tape measure before you order.

We got together with Mike from Resto Mod Vette to talk about the Custom ‘59 Corvette Coupe they had built around a “Statue of Liberty” Theme deeming it the “Liberty Vette” 🗽

This jaw dropping Corvettes design came from idea Willis Johnson had shared with Mike. Willis also had his hands on some Authentic Copper from The Statue of Liberty that was used to create the paint color, and used as copper plating around the car.

Under the hood you can find our LS3 430HP Connect and Cruise Package and man does it look good!

This car sits on a Art Morrison IRS Chassis rolling on custom 3-piece wheels created by Mike Curtis at Curtis Speed.

The interior has a beautiful brown distressed leather with Vintage Air and a Wonder Bar Radio.

This car is truly a handcrafted masterpiece and we are extremely proud to be a part of this amazing build. Thank you to Mike and Resto Mod Vette for creating such a beautiful ride
