When that door dropped, men died. They died protecting freedom. The real reason for Memorial Day.

On a run to Nebraska this weekend, we went through Columbus. There, they have this memorial. The Higgins boat, the boats that carried troops and equipment and landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. When these boats hit the beaches, the door dropped into enemy fire. A lot of men took their last step and their last breath when this door dropped. It was a very sobering stop for Memorial Day weekend. Standing on the door where so may men gave their lives really makes you stop and think how lucky we are for our freedom.
