What the heck is Slip Angle anyway?
Slip Angle Consulting is the culmination of Robert Slonaker's nearly three decades of experience teaching and coaching automotive racing and high performance driving. Rob has helped numerous drivers improve their skills and ability to successfully compete and make the most of the time they spend on track. He has coached and worked with drivers at all levels of experience in amateur and professional race series. If you are looking to get started in track day driving, club racing or improve your skills and pace on track, Slip Angle Consulting can help.
And oh yeah, “Slip Angle” is the difference between where you are pointed and where you are actually going. Most often used to describe the way a tires’ contact patch interacts with the pavement. There is always some degree of “slip” between where the tire is pointed and where it is actually heading. Proper management of this “slip angle” determines how efficiently a driver is using the tires and therefore, ultimately how fast they are getting around the track.
