Our XKraft Motorsports division is rapidly growing and specifically focuses on the high-adrenaline Side-by-Side (SXS) market. We are looking for an R&D Specialist to join our product development team in Grass Valley, taking concepts from rough vehicle scans to finished production molds and hardware.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a creative, hands-on R&D Specialist / Fabricator to drive new product development primarily for XKraft Motorsports, with crossover into our Maier USA and Maier Manufacturing lines.
In this role, you will be directly responsible for designing, prototyping, and tooling replacement body panels, custom hoods, widebody kits, and carbon fiber accessories for the newest SXS models on the market (e.g., Polaris RZR Pro R). An essential part of this job includes engineering and fabricating the mounting hardware and custom bracketry needed to make installation seamless and rock-solid.
Whether you are an experienced senior fabricator who can take a project from concept to finished mold independently, or an enthusiastic mid-level builder eager to learn and grow under experienced leadership, we want to hear from you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
🔹 End-to-End Product Prototyping: Design, mock-up, and fabricate prototype body panels, widebody kits, custom hoods, and carbon fiber trim accessories.
🔹 Bracketry & Mounting Hardware: Design, engineer, and fabricate custom brackets, tabs, and mounting hardware necessary for rock-solid panel and widebody kit installation.
🔹 Mold & Tooling Production: Build molds for plastic thermoforming using direct casting/pouring methods as well as CNC-routed mold creation.
🔹 3D Scanning & Digital Design: Perform 3D scans on target SXS vehicles, model custom bodywork using CAD, and prepare files for CNC router cutting or 3D printing.
🔹 Vehicle Fitment & Validation: Perform hands-on test fittings on target machines to ensure precise fitment, structural integrity, proper clearances, and clean lines.
🔹 Cross-Division R&D Support: Assist with design updates, test fitting, and new product development across the Maier USA and Maier Manufacturing product lines.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
⚙️ Hands-on Fabrication Mindset: Proven ability to work with composites, plastics, fiberglass, foam, body filler, or sheet metal to build custom shapes, brackets, and tooling.
⚙️ Eye for Styling & Fitment: Strong visual sense for vehicle lines, panel alignment, aesthetics, and proportions.
⚙️ Self-Motivated & Quality-Focused: Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on producing high-quality work in a timely manner.
⚙️ Physical Capability: Ability to safely maneuver around vehicles, handle raw manufacturing materials, and operate shop tools and routers.

🛠️ Auto Body / Body Shop Background: Experience with panel prep, block sanding, custom bodywork, plug making, or auto body repair.
💻 CAD/CAM & Digital Tools: Experience with SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360, MasterCAM, or Photoshop for visual mockups.
📐 Modern Prototyping Tech: Familiarity with 3D scanning technology, CNC routers, or 3D printing.
SCHEDULE & HOURS
📅 Standard Monday through Friday shop schedule.
