When was the last time you had a conversation with someone at work that had absolutely nothing to do with work?

Not the project. Not the numbers. Not the next deadline.

Just a real conversation.

As the end-of-year push picks up, WIA Board Member Beth Mach has a challenge for us: 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵.

Ask about the story behind the photo on someone's desk. Celebrate the customer compliment. Grab coffee with someone whose path doesn't normally cross yours.

It doesn't have to be elaborate. Sometimes a little curiosity, laughter, and celebration are exactly what a team needs.

💜 It's , and today we're celebrating Kim Hickey, Vice President at Automotive Training Institute!

Kim's work is personal.

Before becoming a leader at ATI, she was a shop owner who turned to the organization when she needed help herself.

She understands the realities independent shop owners face because she's lived them.

She also understands that most people don't open a shop because they want to spend their lives buried in it. They do it because they want freedom, choices, and the ability to shape their future.

Today, Kim gets to help other owners build businesses that can actually support those lives.

Through stronger leadership, clearer systems, healthier teams, and better operations, she helps shop owners pursue whatever success means to them, whether that's growing to multiple locations, preparing for succession, or simply having the freedom to show up for the people they love.

Better Shops. Better Lives.
