A Message from Hope about Hope for World Mental Health Day 🐾
Hi, friends! Hope here. ❤️ October 10 is World Mental Health Day, and I’ve learned something important from spending time with people: sometimes one of the best things you can do for your own mental health is to help someone else.
You don’t have to do anything big. Call someone who might be lonely. Really listen when a friend is having a tough day. Hold the door. Buy someone a cup of coffee. Thank a coworker. Smile at a stranger. Volunteer for something you care about. Or simply ask someone, “How are you doing?”—and stick around long enough to hear the real answer. When we show kindness and connection to others, we often feel a little more connected, hopeful, and purposeful ourselves.
And here’s something else I know: you don’t have to have all the answers to help somebody. I certainly don’t. Sometimes I just sit beside someone, put my head in their lap, and let them know they aren’t alone. On World Mental Health Day, find one small way to make somebody else’s day a little better. You might be surprised at what it does for yours.
❤️ Hope
