Okay , I had a customer send me his rebuilt starter from a shop after he was having the same problems after 10 starts. Here is what he paid $125.00 dollars for .
You decide if he got screwed.
I will post the teardown video and my rebuilt process when done . Had 60 test starts on it with no issues.

Question for all Subaru 360 owners.
What is a reasonable price you would pay for a complete starter rebuild. Every single part is taken apart and cleaned, polished.
Replaced damaged parts as needed. Derust entire starter, repaint and resolder solenoid and bench test and live test after assembly.
This is not your normal replace brushes and call it good.
It is a true complete rebuild.
It takes 3-4 days to complete this process.
