SPENCER"S SPEED SHOP engine assembly tech tip. This post is about how to modify your engine THRUST BEARING for PRESSURIZED oiling. Most guys don't realize how much load is exerted on the THRUST BEARING when you are Mashing your Clutch Pedal to the floor for a high RMP LAUNCH. This also applies to an Automatic when you are power braking or coming up on your Trans Brake. When doing so you are putting a tremendous load on the back side of your thrust beraing.You are actually trying to push your crank out of the front of the block! What I do is drill a hole thru the Thrust Beraing and engine block to intersect with the MAIN BEARING Oil Feed Galley. This will keep you from eating your thrust bering.
