Day 2 at Mirage Raceway.

Day was sunny and warm. No rain for the day. Sarah and I got there about 12:30 Jonah already had our tent popped up. I started with glueing tires for Zach.
Since I was locked into the A Main with 2 of my cars, I didn’t have to race them in the heat races. I didn’t run the first heat but ran the second just to make sure cars were turning and burning.

Midwest Modified- this was the one class I didn’t lock into since I didn’t finish the main on Friday. Did some troubleshooting on the car to see way it was dead in the water. Found out for some reason my ESC decalibrated. Once I recalibrated it was working fine. So car was twitchy throughout the day came to the Main and Jonah and I had battled all 50 laps for 3rd. I would get caught up with him and I would make a mistake. I am overdriving the car. Need to get smoother with it. Had a great race ended P4 in the A Main

13.5t Late Model- car was running good and gearing was working great. Started in P2 with Dylan R on my ass we raced hard but clean. I didn’t get the door closed in time and he took 2nd from me and I couldn’t get caught up to home so we finished P3. Overall this car is so fun to drive.

Midget- car was Good Friday, car coming into Saturday was not great but manageable. Car was getting loose out of the corners. Ended up P8. I am still trying to get this car to drive the way I want it too. Over had fun.

Sarah ran Saturdays race I. Her Mudboss and her Street Stock. Her Mudboss was doing really well. But we had a receiver fry on us and I didn’t have any back ups. Her street stock she is getting more consistent and comfortable driving it. She ended P7 in street stock. She had a lot of fun today

Overall this race weekend was long. Getting home both nights around 3:30. Had a great time. Have to thank Greg for having a very nice facility. And having a very fast track And the only high banking track in Nebraska. Now it’s coming into my busy season with work we will have to see how many races I can make before harvest. Might be getting cars ready for winter season.

Day 1 of Mirages 2 day event. Very wet this weekend but the rain has been staying out of the forecast all day. Only ran 1 heat then a Main to get locked into the Pole dash on Saturday. Meaning Top 2 in the A main get lock into the Pile dash then Saturday. Only Racing 3 cars this weekend. Midget, Midwest Modified, 13.5T Late Model. I mounted up some brand new Whitzs WideOpens Soft, and been using the new Sauce Steve sent me from Scuff Racing, the tires on all the cars have been gripped up all night. Have not had any problems with traction.

Midget- I think I have this car wanting to turn and burn, think I can go up a tooth on pinion since temps are not to high, car was doing good all night, ended p2 in the A main meaning I am locked in to the Pile Dash

13.5T Late Model- this car has been my struggle the last few month trying to chase gearing trying not to power fade half way through the main. But tonight was different. I tried a 75/35 at Nescar in Grand Island and it ran great, decided to keep gearing the same coming into this weekend to see what happened, well I think I found where my motor loves to be. Spragg and I battled all night for 1st in the Heat and Main event, finished 2nd. Locked into the Pole Dash

Midwest Modified- This car was on fire for the heat. Car was fast and consistent. I has hitting all my marks. Main event came started P1 15 Laps into the Main my car just dropped all power while I was entering into turn 1 and I had a dead car on the track, and boom get smack pretty good. DNF on the Main event going to do some trouble shooting before the races tomorrow. We will see if I can make the ground up on Saturday.

All in all great time racing tonight can’t wait to see what happens tomorrow.

Nescar Club Race Recap:

13.5T Late Model. This car has been my struggle. Gearing. Think I finally am getting to the range my motor likes. Car was great Bob and I had some really fun battles all throughout the evening.

MWM- car was on rails today. Struggled in the first heat with the sun being out and 1 corner was a little dryer then the other. Once the sun went away car was a rocket ship. Colton and I kept battling, I would catch up to him then I would mess up my Corner and he would get away from me then I would run him down. Just couldn’t get around him. Really fun race

Losi Sprint.- this car was on rails all night, got 1st in both my heats and in the main Dana and I had a really good battle all race. Something as the Midwest mod. I could catch up make a mistake loss ground. Still was really fun.

All in All tonight was some of the best racing I have had here at Nescar. The new sauce Steve sent me from Scuffed Racing is doing really great keeping my cars hooked up. Decided to run all Quasi Speed tires tonight and they were dialed from the beginning. I also am really enjoying my Team Velocity Rc chassis’s. They have been fast cars since I have gotten them. Saw they have some Pototype late model kits for there team drivers, might be something I look into in the future. Losi Sprint and Losi Late Model, these classes were the 2 biggest classes tonight. I drove a Late Model and I loved it, it was a blast, out of the box it was running really well. Had a lot of fun tonight, now time to get cars ready for Mirages 2 day trophy race this coming weekend. Sorry for no pictures after the races mosquitoes were really bad 😂

Made it to Nescar in Grand Island for there first trophy race this season. Races Midwest Modified, 13.5t Late Model, and Losi Sprint.

Midwest Mod- did great throughout the heat, started 2nd in the A-main and Fisnish 2nd. Was chasing grip with this car. Changed tires come Main event since the track had so much grip available. Can’t complain about the car.

13.5t Late Model- Hobbywing Just Stock systems are where I am struggling. Car handles so smooth and buttery. I just don’t have the speed to keep up. Still trying to work out the details. Ended last in the B-main

Losi Sprint- this car was throw together for the last club race at Mirage up in Fremont, car handled very well all night once the track came around by the main even this car was on fire. Started 3rd and finished second. This car is surprising me every time I take it out on loose dirt tracks.

All in all had a great time racing. Walking away with some Hardware. Very happy with today’s performance.

Made it out to Nescar here in Grand Island NE. Got all the cars on the track this time. Cars were doing great for being on loose dirt. Only ran 1 heat and a main. Mother Nature beat us today. But still got some good racing in today. Can’t wait for weather to agree with us! The Misdwest Modified was a rocket ship tonight. Late Model was good till I got turned around on the straight and someone hit me braking a rear A-arm. It’s happens welcome to racing. Street stock needs to find some more straight line speed. But is at a very good point for Sarah to try racing buggy based cars.

Recap On Utah State Oval Championship.

First thing first Rocky Mountain RC is one of the nicest facility’s I have had the chance to visit since I started racing.

Zach and I came to this race to have fun and try not to get last place. This track is a glued and something I have never seen in person. This track eats tries for breakfast. Came to this race with the tires I had for high bite tracks. Found out really quickly that Quasi Speed tires come here to die.😂 With help from the locals here at the track they helped us get our car started in the right direction with tires and prep. I have to give a big thanks to everyone who helped me this weekend.

Street Stock- this this was a handful when we first got here. 17.5t and with the extra high bite. My car want to traction roll every single corner. Through the qualifying rounds I slow started getting it together. I didn’t want to put weight on to the car since we have been fast without the weight. But turned to the dark side and added weight on to both front and rear A-arms. Car want to stay flat finally. Started 8th in the A-Main. Had 10 cars on the track and a lot of traffic but after it all Zach came out on top with 1st and TQ. I ended in 4th.

13.5t Late Model- This car was doing pretty good once we got the right tires on it. It was fast but still wanted to traction roll. Finally got it to come around by the last qualifier. Started 4th in the A-main and ended in 2nd. Battle hard but clean with one of the locals. Had a lot of fun running this car.

Midwest Modified- Car was fast but on the edge of uncontrolled. Got things dialed in during the qualifying. Broken on the the hinge pin holder on the front. With this car be a Velocity RC chassis I don’t have parts for this car yet. I am very very lucky that the fastest guy in this class runs all Velocity cars. He got me hooked up with some new ones. Started the A-main in 4th and battled my way up to 3rd place. This is starting to become my favorite class. The way this car drives I really enjoy it

This event was very high energy. Had quite a few out of state guys here with Zach and the furthest drive being 12 hours. The new owner Gary has poured his love of this hobby into this place and it shows. Have to give thanks to Shane Wheeler for inviting us out to his home track. He made the drive out the Jensen’s for the Battle in the Barn and we had to show his home track some love. All in all we had a lot of fun and races some very competitive races. I know if I can make it to this event I will.
