Big day for our crew in Aurora — they spent the day up on lifts running a new exhaust system through a brand new service bay!

Once it's up and running, every tech in that bay will be able to pull an exhaust hose off a sliding trolley anywhere along the rail and hook straight up to a vehicle. No fixed drop points to work around, no dragging hose across the shop floor. The trolley just moves to wherever the car is parked.

It's not flashy equipment, but it's the kind that matters every single day a vehicle's running indoors. Proud of our team for getting this one installed right. 💪

Take me out to the ballgame! ⚾ The ODP crew spent an afternoon cheering on the Rockies as they took on the Rays, and it was the perfect way to spend some time together outside the office.

Good company, good weather, and a few too many ballpark snacks — we couldn't ask for a better way to spend the day together. Grateful for a team that works hard and knows how to have a good time too.

Ask any shop manager how a good technician ends up on light duty, and "back" comes up before almost anything else.

It's rarely a dramatic injury. It's usually the fortieth wheel of the week, lifted the same way as the first thirty-nine — until something finally gives.

The numbers back it up. Automotive techs have one of the highest injury rates of any U.S. occupation, and a light truck or SUV wheel can easily weigh 60-100 lbs — well past what's considered a safe lift under ideal conditions. And a single back injury claim can run tens of thousands of dollars, not counting the time an experienced tech is out.

The good news: this is one of the more solvable problems in a shop. Equipment like leverless tire changers, balancers with integrated wheel lifts, and height-adjustable wheel carts don't ask technicians to lift smarter — they remove the lift altogether.

Backordered rotors are one of the most predictable ways a same-day brake job turns into a two-day wait.

An on-car brake lathe takes that variable off the table. If the rotor's within spec, it gets resurfaced right on the vehicle's hub — no waiting on a parts shipment, and no runout problems from removing and reinstalling the rotor.

It's also often the more profitable job. Less parts cost, more labor retained, and a precision result — "machined true to your vehicle's hub" — that a straight parts swap can't claim.

It's not the right call for every rotor (heat damage, cracking, or a rotor below minimum thickness still means replacement). But having both options on hand means your team can quote the right repair instead of defaulting to whatever's on the shelf.

This is what skipping an auto drain actually looks like.

This compressor never had one installed — so instead of automatically clearing condensate, water just kept building up in the tank... until it didn't.

Our team is out here right now draining the system and installing the auto drain that should've been part of the setup from day one.

It's a good reminder that the equipment is only half the equation — who installs it, and whether it's done right, matters just as much. Cutting a corner up front almost always costs more down the road. 💧
