A local off-road nonprofit helped keep CHRISTUS Good Shepard Medical Center up and running during Winter Storm Fern, providing nearly 800 rides when icy roads kept many medical personnel and essential employees from driving.

This weekend we completed Phase One of our ongoing trail renovation and restoration project at Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area. While the work is far from finished and will take several months to complete, this first phase focused on essential tree removal, trimming back foliage and overhanging branches, and making initial improvements needed to prepare for Phase Two, which is currently being planned.

If you have experience wheeling this park and would like to volunteer or share ideas on how we can make these trails even better, please shoot us a PM — we’d love your input!

Annnd before it starts, DeWoody has been changed yes, but it is still completely doable up the center line as seen here. There are 2 new lines and one is a solid 3…for now anyway. After all, the mountain changes due to use and erosion but we promise to keep working to maintain the trails we all love!

Y’all go check out the new album we are building! Phase one of “Operation Trail Renovation” was completed this weekend. It was a marathon for sure, but we worked hard and thanks to our amazing volunteers we got more accomplished than originally planned! Videos and photos will be added over the next few days!
