π VEHICLE FACT THURSDAY π§
Standard Duty vs. Severe Duty β Whatβs the Difference?
Did you know that how you drive your vehicle can affect how often it needs maintenance?
Many people follow the standard maintenance schedule, but some driving conditions are considered severe duty β and that can mean more frequent maintenance.
π£οΈ Standard Duty
This generally means mostly normal driving conditions, such as:
Longer trips with steady speeds
Minimal stop-and-go traffic
Moderate temperatures
Little or no towing or heavy hauling
π₯ Severe Duty
Your vehicle may fall into the severe-duty category if you regularly:
Drive short trips
Spend a lot of time in stop-and-go traffic
Tow or haul heavy loads
Drive on dirt, gravel, or dusty roads
Drive in extreme heat or cold
Spend a lot of time idling
Here's the important part: severe-duty driving can require more frequent oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and other maintenance.
π¨ Don't assume your vehicle's maintenance schedule is one-size-fits-all. Check your owner's manual to see which schedule applies to your driving habits.
A little preventive maintenance today can help prevent a much bigger repair tomorrow!
