We had a walk-in customer stop by for an oil change on their Honda Odyssey, and of course, we were happy to get them taken care of! 🚗🔧

Something we like to do with our oil changes is include a quick inspection of the vehicle. This allows us to check for any visible safety concerns or other issues that may need attention.

During our inspection, we noticed that the air intake boot had a tear in it!

So, what exactly does the air intake boot do, and why is it important? 🤔 The air intake boot is responsible for directing filtered air into the engine. It also helps keep dirt, dust, and other debris from entering the engine. When the boot develops a tear, it can allow unfiltered air into the engine. Depending on where the tear is located, it can also allow unmetered air into the engine, potentially causing rough idling, poor engine performance, and even a check engine light.

And let’s talk about this Arizona heat! ☀️🥵 Between our extreme summer temperatures, the constant heat coming from the engine, and the natural wear that comes with age and mileage, rubber components can become brittle, dry, and eventually crack or tear.

Thankfully, we caught this during the oil change! We showed our customer what we found, explained our recommendation, and received approval to replace the damaged boot.

Now everything is repaired, and our customer is all set! 🙌

A customer came in with a check engine light on for an EVAP-related code. Upon inspection, we found that one of the hoses had become disconnected.

Thankfully, it was a quick and simple fix! 🙌 But more importantly, we were able to get our customer taken care of and back on the road!

Not every check engine light means a major repair, and that’s exactly why proper diagnostics are so important! 🔧🚗

Your check engine light can come on for an EVAP leak… but where is it actually leaking? 👀💨

That’s where a smoke test comes in! We introduce smoke into the vehicle’s EVAP system and watch for where it escapes. Even a small leak from a hose, seal, valve, or other component can trigger that check engine light.

In this case, we found the evap leak! 🔍🚗
