The primary workshop phone number has been suffering for months now from a high number of daily unsolicited sales & automated spam calls. Therefore the workshop phone is no longer the primary contact method. New clients please use the new client contact form button on the gtown-auto.com webpage first. Established clients may still call/ text, however returning phone calls may be delayed significantly. Email to [email protected] is also a good method for contact/ messages. Any calls without a voicemail message left will not be returned. Expect long delays in a response if calling the workshop phone 618-694-5820.

The workshop & workshop schedule is temporarily closed to new appointments for the completion of several large projects. No service is available and scheduling is closed until April 1st, 2023. Communication is limited to clients with vehicles in workshop at this time. Service appointments can be made after April 1st, 2023.

Summary: I'm receiving data that indicate a severe supply shock to automotive repair parts & materials for N. America is inbound. Start taking premium care of the vehicle(s) you currently have. Don't put off your vehicle maintenance or recommended repairs - repair parts may not be available when you "decide to get back to it". And not just here at my little shop in Germantown, IL either - I mean everywhere.

The raging dumpster fire that already is the state of global freight and automotive manufacturing is not improving. The phrase "supply chains are a mess right now" is a gross understatement of actual market conditions developing with automotive repair parts & service materials by manufacturers and suppliers.

I currently have several part numbers, including basic items such as oil filters and brake pads, that are in single digits regionally and less than 100 units nationwide. I have several part numbers for Audi/ VW, BMW, Hyundai/ Kia, and Lexus/ Toyota that are simply unavailable worldwide.

These unavailable parts include high-volume maintenance parts and known to be common failure components on vehicles which can take the vehicle out of use. One of those part #'s is a software locked control module for 2017-2019 model year vehicle - you can't get that from a salvage yard - it's a genuine new part or the repair is not happening. I checked supply of OEM level brake pads yesterday for a clients estimate - less than 5 units available regionally - for a 2018 Toyota built vehicle that is a multi-platform vehicle - in "normal" times I would have 200 available. I had 5 VW steering column control modules on backorder that repaired common failure of 2012-2016 VW vehicles -multiple models & years with same part number - those were literally lost at sea. Davy Jones has my parts now.

Keep in mind my parts suppliers include the direct OEM manufacturers which service both the dealer networks and independent shops alike. I make contact with them and I'm frequently told additional stock is N/A with no ETA. Dealers won't have those parts either.

Regarding regional parts freight and logistics - 70% of OEM/ dealer wholesale parts shipments have not made it here within the given ETA since January 2022. Regarding global parts freight and logistics so far and continuing into the future - see attached photo.
