Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

It’s easy to get bogged down in this life. It’s easy to sit and wonder why. It’s easy to sit and wonder when. It’s easy to sit and wonder how did this happen to me… I’m sure Paul had these same thoughts from Philippi. He had led people to Christ and found himself in prison all in the same chapter of scripture. What does he say in the above mentioned verse. He has confidence in the Lord. Confidence in the fact that if he has begun a good work in you that he will perform it until the rapture. He said good work … not easy work. Simply put, a good life does not mean an easy life. Most people have a lot to deal with in life. Work , relationships, health issues, children, paying bills, car breaking down, the list is endless. What you have to realize this morning dear friend … whether you’re in the line of fire or taking the day off to enjoy yourself or going to a dr appt and you don’t know the test result … realize this … God has began a work in you and he will perform it. Let him work! Remember… a good work is not necessarily an easy work.

I’m so very thankful for Jesus this morning. There’s only one Jesus! In life … rarity often determines value … it takes a train load of scrap iron to equal a sand pail of gold in value. Why? Because gold is much more rare than iron … there are thousands of gods in the world … history and the Bible are full of false gods. But I’m thankful this morning that on the authority of the Bible and the Son Of God … that there is only one God … who had only one Son … that came to die for the whole World. He never met a blind man he couldn’t make to see again, he never met a deaf man to which he could not restore his hearing, he never met a storm he couldn’t still, and thank God he never met a a sinner he couldn’t save. Thank God for Jesus!!!

Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

I heard about a little boy one time that was learning to tie his shoes…. He almost had the hang of it when he got one of them in a mangled up knotty mess … he goes to his grandfather asked him for his pocket knife, his grandfather replied … why do you need my knife? To the which the little boy replied “Grandpa my shoelaces are in a knotted up mess, I’m just going to cut it. The grandfather gently put away his case mini trapper and took the shoe and began working the knot out with his hands, working out each lace and after a few minutes of diligence worked out the knot. You say .. what’s the lesson here Church??

Never cut what you can untie.

In our lives, the easiest thing to do in relationships and situations is to cut them. We don’t try to work it out, we cut it out. We cut family members out, we cut friends out, we cut neighbors out… we don’t like something or how it affects us immediately… so we just cut the laces! When 99% of the time if we will just take a few minutes… put away the pocket knife… and untie the situation … Go the extra mile with somebody… don’t wait on the call, make the call. Dont wait for the text, send the text. Solomon tells us in the above mentioned verse that … discretion shall preserve thee. Today employ some discretion about a situation or relationship. God always honors when we make things right with people … and remember never cut what you can untie.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Everyone including me at some point or another has or will ask God why. Even the Lord Jesus asked him. Why did this happen? Why didn’t this happen? When will I have relief? Why did this happen to me and not them? Why do they get all the breaks? And when God doesn’t answer on our timetable we get upset. Dear friend this morning realize if you are going through something , if you have recently lost someone, if you have a wayward child or family member you have prayed for for countless days and nights. If for years you have dealt or are dealing with a health issue .. please know Gods time is not our time. Gods ways are not our ways. The apostle Paul knew firsthand what heartache was , knew firsthand how it felt to to be forsaken by Christian brethren , knew firsthand what it was like to be alone… knew firsthand what physical pain was and when he penned the above mentioned verse he was no rookie … he was a seasoned ministry veteran. I truly believe it’s ok to ask why … but when you do … don’t stare at God patting your foot waiting for a reply… rest in the fact that he loves you , rest in the fact he sent his son to die for you, rest in the fact he left his Holy Spirit to comfort you, rest in the fact that though you don’t understand now and you may not understand for years … God is still God and you are still you. He will answer your prayer . He does hear your cry. He loves you and has a bigger plan than you or me could ever imagine. On this windy rainy January day know you are so loved by God. HE knows best.
