Zach Peterson Memorial Scholarship Now Accepting Applications for 2026-27 School Year

Applications are open for the Zach Peterson Memorial Scholarship, offering support to local students pursuing careers in the automotive and mechanical trades.
This scholarship is available to current high school sophomores attending James A. Garfield, Windham, and Crestwood High Schools who plan to enroll at Maplewood Career Center for the 2026–2027 school year. Eligible students should be entering programs such as Auto Service Technology, Auto Collision Technology or Power Equipment Mechanics.
The Zach Peterson Memorial Scholarship was established to honor Zach’s passion for hands-on work and his dedication to the automotive field. Awards are designed to help offset the costs associated with required tools, uniforms, and supplies—expenses that can often be a barrier for students entering these technical programs.
“Zach believed in working hard and learning a trade that could build a strong future,” organizers shared. “This scholarship is about giving students the opportunity to follow that same path.”
Applications are available online at https://zachpetersonmemorial.com or can be picked up in your guidance counselors office, at GeeVille Auto NAPA or The Villager in Garrettsville.
The deadline to apply for the 2026 scholarship is May 8, 2026.
Students, parents, and school counselors are encouraged to share this opportunity with those who may qualify.

Every year, we come together to honor Zach Peterson — taken from us far too soon at just 24 years old.

Zach had a deep love for cars and an even deeper love for his family and his community. Whether he was under the hood, talking cars with friends, or showing up for the people around him, that was who he was — passionate, loyal, and someone who brought people together.

Our annual memorial car show, happening September 7, 2026, is more than just an event — it’s a reflection of everything he loved. The sound of engines, the shared stories, the laughter, and the connections all carry his spirit forward.

Through this event, we’re also proud to support a scholarship fund in his name, helping others in our community pursue their goals and build their futures — just like he would have wanted.

We miss him every single day, but seeing everyone come together in his honor reminds us that his impact is still here and still strong.
