We recently learned of the passing of one of our longtime supporters, Patrick Roughton.
Many of you may know the Roughton family from their years of participation in the Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival. Earlier this spring, after Patrick was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, his son, D.J., set out to fulfill one of his dad's lifelong dreams. D.J. traded his Corvette for a Superformance Mk III Cobra so Patrick could finally experience the car he had always wanted.
The family was able to bring Patrick to a recent Mid-America Cobra Club autocross, where he spent some time around the cars he loved. Because of his fragile condition, Patrick wasn't able to ride in the Cobra that day, and the family hoped he would regain enough strength from his treatments to enjoy that experience in the weeks ahead. D.J. had also hoped to bring his father to this year's Revival and take him around the historic race course in his dream car.
Sadly, Patrick passed away on June 13 at the age of 57 before ever getting the chance to ride in the Cobra. While we are heartbroken for D.J. and the entire Roughton family, we are grateful for the many years that they were able to share together with us in Garnett.
Please join us in keeping the Roughton family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
