Visit To Gibbs Gardens Wednesday, March 18th

Daffodils, Cherry Blossoms and Tulips are in season. There are more than 20 million daffodil flowers, over 100 varieties covering over 50 acres of hillsides and valley.

There are hundreds of Yoshino cherries in the gardens, the same ornamental cherry trees that bloom at the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. Every December, they plant over 40,000 tulip bulbs. In the spring, serpentine beds throughout the Gardens come alive with the striking colors of 40 different types of early, mid and late blooming tulips.

Jim Gibbs traveled for 15 years covering the nation and the world viewing gardens of every style and decided that he wanted to design and build a world-class garden. He spent six years looking for a suitable site with a strong source of water and beautiful mature trees covering a rolling topography. It was truly “a dream come true” when he found the most beautiful site in the nation to construct the Gardens. The property is 376 acres and the house and gardens include 300+ acres, making it one of the nation’s largest residential estate gardens.

We will meet up at the main entrance at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 18, We can then take a stroll through some of the displays then have lunch around noon. After lunch we can then explore the remaining gardens.

It is suggested to buy tickets online ahead of time. Entrance is $25 per adult.
Understandably, if the outlook is bad, we will cancel the event.

To avoid ticketing lines, pre-purchase tickets ONLINE and they will be delivered to you via email:

2025 International Jaguar Festival

Preliminary Final Report

Submitted by David Kirkman
Lynn Cunningham, Dave McKay, and Steve Thomas have been finalizing a multitude of details from the IJF. Lynn still has several outstanding bills to cover including paying for the IJF trophies and associated mailing costs. Dave McKay has made copies of the judges scores and mailed them to the entrants and Steve Thomas has been entering the judged scores on the JCNA website. Hopefully all of this will be completed by the end of October.

From all indications the IJF was a tremendous success. Several JCNA members commented it was the best organized event they had attended and the Savoy staff also complemented us on how well the event was run. In rough numbers we had over 80 total entrants from 13 states, and one from Canada, in the three Judged Class and the open Display Only group.

Our club was well represented in the judged classes with 4 in the Champion Class, 11 in the Driven Class, and 2 in the Modified Class. We also had an excellent showing with 19 NGJC members participating in the Display Only group.

I hope to have the final financial report (well, it is actually Lynn Cunningham who will have the report ready) for the November business meeting and publication in the December newsletter.

Submitted by John Hoffman
Our club’s Annual Spring Drive to the Brasstown Resort for their scrumptious Sunday Buffet is set for Sunday, April 27. We have reserved the private Overlook room from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm. That will give all of us time for a leisurely lunch and visit before heading home. We will gather at 9:30 am in the back parking lot of the Georgia Outlet Mall (near the Nike store). Going north, the Georgia Outlet Mall is on your left off GA 400 just before highway 53. We will leave at 10:00 am and take the back roads over the Russell Scenic Highway to Young Harris and the Brasstown Resort. Be advised that the Mall does not have public restrooms, but the RaceTrack Filling Station does, on your left as you approach the turn for the mall.

Please RSVP to me by text (770-598-6248) by Thursday, April 24 if you are planning on attending. I have anticipated 30 but will need to advise the Resort if we have more. This is a rain or shine event. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday, April 27th
